And you, take up a lamentation for the ruler of Israel.

and you shall say, What was your mother? A lioness among lions. In the midst of lions she became; in the midst of lions she multiplied her cubs.

And one of her cubs sprang up; he became a lion and learned to seize prey; he ate men.

And the nations heard concerning him; in their corruption he was caught, and they brought him with a ring to the land of Egypt.

And she saw that she was thrust away from her, and her support was destroyed, and she took another from her cubs, she set him as a lion.

And he walked about among lions; he became a lion, and he learned to seize prey; he devoured men.

And he grazed on his insolence, and their cities he laid waste, and he made the land and its fullness vanish, because of the sound of his roaring.

And nations from regions round about gave against him and spread out their nets against him; in their corruption he was taken.

And they put him in a cage and with a chain he went to the king of Babylon, and he brought him into prison, so that his voice might not be heard on the mountains of Israel.

Your mother was like a vine, like a blossom in a pomegranate, planted by water; its fruit and its shoot came to be from much water

And it became for her a rod of strength for a tribe of rulers, and it was lifted up by its greatness among the trunks, and it saw its greatness in the multitude of its branches.

And she was broken in wrath; on the ground she was thrown, and a scorching wind dried up her choice branches; she was avenged, and the rod of her strength was dried up; fire consumed her.

And now they have planted it in the wilderness, in a waterless land.

And fire went out from a branch of her chosen ones and devoured her, and there was not in her a branch of strength. A tribe for a parable of mourning it is, and it shall be for lamentation.
