And the word of the Lord came to me, saying

Son of man, take up over Tyre a lamentation

And you shall say to Tyre, who dwells at the entrance of the sea, trading of the peoples from many islands: thus says the Lord to Tyre, You said, I have put my beauty around myself.

In the heart of the sea your sons of Beelim have put beauty around you

Cedar from Senir was built for you; planks of cypress from Lebanon were taken to make masts for you from fir trees.

From Bashan they made your oars; your sacred things they made from ivory, wooded houses, from the islands of the Hittites.

Fine linen with embroidery from Egypt became your covering, for glory to place on you and to wrap you in hyacinth and purple from the islands of Elishah, and it became your wrapping

And your rulers, those dwelling in Sidon, and the Aradians, became your rowers; your wise men, O Tyre, who were in you, these were your helmsmen

The elders of Byblos and their wise men were in you; these strengthened your counsel, and all the ships of the sea and their rowers became for you for the west of the west.

Persians and Lydians and Libyans were in your army; your men of war hung shields and helmets in you; these gave your glory

The sons of Aradians and your power were on your walls; guards in your towers. They hung their quivers on your battlements all around; these completed your beauty.

The Carthaginians were your merchants; from the abundance of all your strength they gave silver and gold and iron and tin and lead for your market.

Greece and all together, and those extending far, these traded with you in human lives and gave bronze vessels as your merchandise

From the house of Togarmah they gave horses and horsemen for your trade.

The sons of Rhodes were your merchants; from the islands they increased your trade; ivory tusks, and for the things brought in you gave back your wages.

Men, the merchandise of your trade, from the multitude of your mixed company, gave as your wares stacte and variegated goods from Tarshish and Ramoth and Chorchor.

Judas and the sons of Israel, these were your merchants in the sale of wheat and of perfumes and of cassia and first honey and oil and resin; they gave them for your mixed wares

Damascus was your merchant by reason of the abundance of all your wealth; wine from Helbon and wool from Miletus.

And wine for your market they gave from Ashel; worked iron and wheel are in your mixed stock.

Dedan, your merchants with choice cattle for chariots

Arabia and all the rulers of Kedar, these were your merchants; by your hand they traded with you camels and rams and lambs, with which they bartered with you

The merchants of Sheba and Raama, these were your merchants; with choice spices and precious stones, and they gave gold for your market.

Haran and Canneh, these were your merchants; Asshur and Charman were your merchants.

Ships in them, the Carthaginians were your merchants; in your multitude, in your mixed assembly, and you were filled and greatly burdened in the heart of the sea.

Your rowers brought you into many waters; the wind of the south broke you in the heart of the sea.

Your riches and your wages and your mixed goods and your rowers and your pilots and your counselors and your mixed men from your mixed goods and all your warriors who are in you and all your assembly in your midst shall fall in the heart of the sea on the day of your fall

At the sound of your cry your pilots shall be greatly afraid in fear.

And all your rowers and the passengers and the sea pilots will come down from the ships; they will stand on the land.

And they will cry out over you with their voice and will cry bitterly, and they will put earth and ashes upon their head and will spread under them ashes.

And their sons will take up over you a lamentation and a lament for you

How much did you find as a wage from the sea; you filled nations from your abundance, and from your mixed trade you enriched all the kings of the earth

Now you have been broken in the sea, in the depths of water; your mixed company and all your gathering in your midst have fallen, all your rowers.

All who inhabit the islands were astonished at you, and their kings were utterly amazed, and their face was made to weep.

Merchants from the nations hissed at you; you became destruction, and you shall be no more forever.
