δὲ Σαρα πρὸς Αβραμ ἰδοὺ συνέκλεισέν με κύριος τοῦ μὴ τίκτειν εἴσελθε οὖν πρὸς τὴν παιδίσκην μου ἵνα τεκνοποιήσῃς ἐξ αὐτῆς ὑπήκουσεν δὲ Αβραμ τῆς φωνῆς Σαρας
And Sarai said to Abram, Behold, the Lord has shut me up so that I do not bear; therefore go in to my maidservant, that you may obtain children from her. And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.
λαβοῦσα Σαρα ἡ γυνὴ Αβραμ Αγαρ τὴν Αἰγυπτίαν τὴν ἑαυτῆς παιδίσκην μετὰ δέκα ἔτη τοῦ οἰκῆσαι Αβραμ ἐν γῇ Χανααν καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτὴν Αβραμ τῷ ἀνδρὶ αὐτῆς αὐτῷ γυναῖκα
And Sarai the wife of Abram took Hagar the Egyptian, her maidservant, after ten years of Abram’s dwelling in the land of Canaan, and gave her to Abram her husband to him as wife.
And he went in to Hagar, and she conceived; and she saw that she had in the womb, and her mistress was dishonored before her.
δὲ Σαρα πρὸς Αβραμ ἀδικοῦμαι ἐκ σοῦ ἐγὼ δέδωκα τὴν παιδίσκην μου εἰς τὸν κόλπον σου ἰδοῦσα δὲ ὅτι ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχει ἠτιμάσθην ἐναντίον αὐτῆς κρίναι ὁ θεὸς ἀνὰ μέσον ἐμοῦ καὶ σοῦ
And Sara said to Abram, I am wronged by you; I gave my maidservant into your bosom, and when she saw that she is with child, I was dishonored before her. May God judge between me and you.
δὲ Αβραμ πρὸς Σαραν ἰδοὺ ἡ παιδίσκη σου ἐν ταῖς χερσίν σου χρῶ αὐτῇ ὡς ἄν σοι ἀρεστὸν ᾖ καὶ ἐκάκωσεν αὐτὴν Σαρα καὶ ἀπέδρα ἀπὸ προσώπου αὐτῆς
And Abram said to Sarai, Behold, your maidservant is in your hands; do to her as it may seem good to you. And Sarai mistreated her, and she fled from before her face.
And an angel of the Lord found her at the spring of water in the wilderness, at the spring on the way to Shur
εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου Αγαρ παιδίσκη Σαρας πόθεν ἔρχῃ καὶ ποῦ πορεύῃ καὶ εἶπεν ἀπὸ προσώπου Σαρας τῆς κυρίας μου ἐγὼ ἀποδιδράσκω
And the angel of the Lord said to her, Hagar, Sarai’s maidservant, from where are you coming, and where are you going? And she said, I am fleeing from the presence of Sarai my lady.
And the angel of the Lord said to her, Turn back to your mistress and humble yourself under her hands.
And the angel of the Lord said to her, Multiplying I will multiply your seed, and it shall not be numbered because of the multitude.
εἶπεν αὐτῇ ὁ ἄγγελος κυρίου ἰδοὺ σὺ ἐν γαστρὶ ἔχεις καὶ τέξῃ υἱὸν καὶ καλέσεις τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ Ισμαηλ ὅτι ἐπήκουσεν κύριος τῇ ταπεινώσει σου
And the angel of the Lord said to her, Behold, you are pregnant and will bear a son, and you shall call his name Ishmael, because the Lord has heard your humiliation.
ἔσται ἄγροικος ἄνθρωπος αἱ χεῖρες αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ πάντας καὶ αἱ χεῖρες πάντων ἐπ᾿ αὐτόν καὶ κατὰ πρόσωπον πάντων τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ κατοικήσει
He shall be a wild man; his hands shall be against all, and the hands of all against him, and he shall dwell over against all his brothers.
ἐκάλεσεν Αγαρ τὸ ὄνομα κυρίου τοῦ λαλοῦντος πρὸς αὐτήν σὺ ὁ θεὸς ὁ ἐπιδών με ὅτι εἶπεν καὶ γὰρ ἐνώπιον εἶδον ὀφθέντα μοι
And Hagar called the name of the Lord who was speaking to her, You are the God who sees me, because she said, For I have seen before me the One who appeared to me.
Therefore she called the well Beer Lahai Roi; behold, it is between Kadesh and between Bered
And Hagar bore to Abram a son, and Abram called the name of his son, whom Hagar bore to him, Ishmael.
And Abram was eighty-six years old when Hagar bore Ishmael to Abram.
