And it came to pass after Isaac grew old, and his eyes were dimmed so that he could not see, that he called Esau his elder son and said to him, My son; and he said, Behold, I am here.

And he said, Behold, I have grown old and I do not know the day of my death

Now therefore take your gear, both the quiver and the bow, and go out into the field and hunt game for me

and make for me cooked food such as I love, and bring it to me that I may eat, so that my soul may bless you before I die

And Rebekah heard Isaac speaking to Esau his son; and Esau went into the field to hunt a hunt for his father

Now Rebekah said to Jacob her younger son, Behold, I heard your father speaking to Esau your brother, saying,

Bring me game and make me dishes, and having eaten, I will bless you before the Lord before I die.

Now therefore, my son, listen to me, according to what I command you.

And go to the sheep and take for me from there two tender and good kids, and I will make them into dishes for your father, as he loves.

And you shall bring it in to your father, and he will eat, so that your father may bless you before his dying.

But Jacob said to Rebekah his mother, Esau my brother is a hairy man, but I am a smooth man

lest my father should feel me and I shall be before him as one despising, and I shall bring upon myself a curse and not a blessing

But his mother said to him, Your curse be on me, child; only obey my voice and go and bring to me

So he went and took and brought them to his mother, and his mother made dishes such as his father loved.

And Rebekah took Esau’s robe, her elder son, the fine one which was with her in the house, and she clothed Jacob, her younger son.

and she put the skins of the kids on his arms and on the bare parts of his neck

And she gave the delicacies and the breads which she had prepared into the hands of Jacob, her son.

And he brought it in to his father and said, Father; and he said, Here I am. Who are you, child?

And Jacob said to his father, I am Esau your firstborn; I have done as you spoke to me. Rise, sit and eat of my game, so that your soul may bless me.

And Isaac said to his son, What is this? How is it that you found it quickly, child? And he said, What the Lord your God delivered before me.

And Isaac said to Jacob, Come near to me, and I will feel you, child, whether you are my son Esau or not.

And Jacob drew near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, The voice is indeed the voice of Jacob, but the hands are the hands of Esau.

And he did not recognize him, for his hands were like the hands of Esau his brother, hairy; and he blessed him

And he said, You are my son Esau? And he said, I am.

And he said, Bring it near to me, and I will eat from your game, child, so that my soul may bless you; and he brought it near to him, and he ate, and he brought him wine, and he drank.

And Isaac his father said to him, Come near to me and kiss me, child.

And having come near, he kissed him, and smelled the smell of his garments, and blessed him, and said, Behold, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field full, which the Lord has blessed.

And may God give to you from the dew of heaven and from the fatness of the earth and abundance of grain and wine

And let nations serve you, and rulers shall bow down to you, and be lord over your brother, and the sons of your father shall bow down to you. Cursed is the one cursing you, and blessed is the one blessing you.

And it came to pass after Isaac had finished blessing Jacob his son, and it came to pass, when Jacob had gone out from before Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from the hunt.

And he also made delicacies and brought them to his father and said to his father, Let my father arise and eat of his son’s game, so that your soul may bless me.

And Isaac his father said to him, Who are you? And he said, I am your son, your firstborn, Esau.

And Isaac was amazed with a very great amazement, and he said, Who then was it that hunted game for me and brought it in to me, and I ate of all before you came, and I blessed him, and he shall be blessed.

And it came to pass, when Esau heard the words of Isaac his father, that he cried out with a very great and bitter cry and said, Bless me also, father.

And he said to him, Your brother came with deceit and took your blessing.

And he said, Rightly was his name called Jacob, for he has already supplanted me a second time; my firstborn rights he has taken, and now he has taken my blessing. And Esau said to his father, Have you not left a blessing for me, father?

And Isaac answered and said to Esau, If I have made him lord over you, and all his brothers I have made his servants, and with grain and wine I have sustained him, and to you now what shall I do, child?

And Esau said to his father, Is there one blessing for you, father? Bless me, indeed, also me, father. And Isaac, being pierced, cried out with a loud voice, and Esau wept.

And Isaac his father answered and said to him, Behold, away from the fatness of the earth shall be your dwelling, and away from the dew of heaven above.

And by your sword you shall live, and you shall serve your brother; but it will be when ever you overthrow and you break off his yoke from your neck.

And Esau was angry toward Jacob because of the blessing with which his father blessed him. And Esau said in his mind, Let the days of mourning for my father draw near, that I may kill Jacob my brother.

And the words of Esau her elder son were reported to Rebekah, and sending she called Jacob her younger son and said to him, Behold, Esau your brother threatens you to kill you

Now therefore, my child, hear my voice, and rise up, flee to Mesopotamia, to Laban my brother, to Haran.

and dwell with him some days until the anger turns away

and your brother’s anger from you, and he will forget what you have done to him, and I will send and bring you from there; lest I be bereaved of both of you in one day

And Rebekah said to Isaac, I am wearied of my life because of the daughters of the sons of Heth; if Jacob takes a wife from the daughters of this land, why should I live?
