Into their lap, like earth, like an eagle, against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant and have acted impiously against my law

To me they will cry out, O God, we have known you.

For Israel has turned away good; an enemy has pursued him.

They made kings for themselves, and not through me they ruled, and they did not make known to me their silver and their gold; they made idols for themselves, so that they might be destroyed.

Cast away your calf, Samaria; my anger has been provoked against them. Until when will they not be able to be cleansed?

In Israel also a craftsman made it, and it is not God; for the calf of you, Samaria, has been a misleading thing.

For they sowed wind, and their destruction will receive them; a sheaf having no strength to make flour, and even if it should make it, foreigners will eat it.

Israel has been swallowed up; now he has become among the nations like a useless vessel

For they themselves went up to Assyria; Ephraim has gone wild by himself; they loved gifts.

Therefore they shall be handed over among the nations; now I will receive them, and they will cease for a little from anointing a king and rulers.

For Ephraim multiplied altars; they became for him altars for sins, beloved altars.

I wrote for him the multitude of my laws, but they were regarded as strange things; the beloved altars of sacrifice.

For if they should sacrifice a sacrifice and eat meat, the Lord will not accept them; now he will remember their injustices and will punish their sins. They themselves have returned to Egypt, and in Assyria they shall eat unclean things.

And Israel forgot the one who made him, and they built shrines, and Judah multiplied fortified cities; and I will send fire against his cities, and it shall devour their foundations.
