The vision which Isaiah son of Amoz saw, which he saw concerning Judea and concerning Jerusalem in the reign of Uzziah and Jotham and Ahaz and Hezekiah, who reigned over Judea

Hear, O heaven, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I have begotten sons and raised them up, but they themselves have rejected me.

An ox has known its owner, and a donkey the manger of its lord; but Israel has not known me, and the people has not understood me.

Woe, sinful nation, people full of sins, wicked seed, lawless sons: you have forsaken the Lord and provoked the Holy One of Israel.

Why will you still be struck, adding lawlessness? The whole head is for pain, and the whole heart for grief.

From feet to head, there is no wound, nor bruise, nor inflamed blow; there is no dressing to apply, nor oil, nor bandages

Your land is desolate, your cities burned with fire; your country, foreigners are devouring it before you, and it has been made desolate, overthrown by foreign peoples.

And the daughter of Zion shall be left as a tent in a vineyard and as a fruit-keeper’s hut in a cucumber field, as a city being besieged

And if the Lord of hosts had not left us offspring, we would have become like Sodom, and we would have been made like Gomorrah.

Hear the word of the Lord, rulers of Sodom; give heed to the law of God, people of Gomorrah.

What is the multitude of your sacrifices to me? says the Lord. I am full of whole burnt offerings of rams and fat of lambs and blood of bulls and goats; I do not desire them.

And if you come to be seen by me, for who has required these things from your hands, to tread my court?

You shall not continue; if you bring fine flour, vain incense, it is an abomination to me, your new moons and your sabbaths and the great day; I do not endure fasting and idleness

And your new moons and your feasts my soul hates; you have become to me a satiety; I will no longer bear your sins.

When you stretch out your hands toward me, I will turn my eyes away from you; and even if you multiply the petition, I will not listen to you, for your hands are full of blood.

Wash yourselves; become clean; remove the evil deeds from your souls from before my eyes; cease from your evil deeds.

Learn to do good; seek judgment, rescue the one being wronged, judge for the orphan, and vindicate the widow.

Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord; and if your sins are as scarlet, I will make them white as snow; and if they are as crimson, I will make them white as wool

And if you are willing and hear me, you shall eat the good things of the land.

But if you are not willing and do not obey me, a sword will devour you; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken these things.

How has the faithful city Zion become a harlot, full of judgment, in which righteousness slept in it, but now murderers?

Your silver has become dross; your dealers mix the wine with water.

Your rulers are disobedient, companions of thieves, loving gifts, pursuing repayment; for orphans they do not judge, and to the judgment of widows they do not pay attention.

Therefore thus says the Master, Lord Sabaoth: Woe to the mighty of Israel, for my wrath shall not cease against the adversaries, and I will execute judgment from my enemies.

And I will bring my hand upon you and I will purge you into pure, but the disobedient I will destroy; and I will remove all lawless men from you and I will humble all the proud

And I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; and afterward you shall be called a city of righteousness, a faithful metropolis, Zion

For with judgment her captivity shall be saved, and with mercy

And the lawless and the sinners shall be crushed together, and those who forsake the Lord shall be brought to an end

For they shall be put to shame because of their idols, which they themselves desired, and they were ashamed because of their gardens, which they desired.

For they shall be like a terebinth having cast off its leaves, and like a garden having no water

And their strength shall be as tow, and their works as sparks of fire, and the lawless and the sinners shall be burned up together, and there shall be no one to quench them.
