πλεῖστον τοῦ λαοῦ ὃ κατήγαγες ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ σου καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται ἐνώπιόν σου ὡς οἱ εὐφραινόμενοι ἐν ἀμήτῳ καὶ ὃν τρόπον οἱ διαιρούμενοι σκῦλα
The greater part of the people, whom thou didst bring down in thy joy, and they shall rejoice before thee as those who rejoice in the harvest and as those who divide spoil
ἀφῄρηται ὁ ζυγὸς ὁ ἐπ᾿ αὐτῶν κείμενος καὶ ἡ ῥάβδος ἡ ἐπὶ τοῦ τραχήλου αὐτῶν τὴν γὰρ ῥάβδον τῶν ἀπαιτούντων διεσκέδασεν κύριος ὡς τῇ ἡμέρᾳ τῇ ἐπὶ Μαδιαμ
For the yoke that lay upon them has been taken away, and the rod on their neck; for the rod of those who exacted has the Lord shattered as in the day that was upon Midian.
πᾶσαν στολὴν ἐπισυνηγμένην δόλῳ καὶ ἱμάτιον μετὰ καταλλαγῆς ἀποτείσουσιν καὶ θελήσουσιν εἰ ἐγενήθησαν πυρίκαυστοι
For every garment gathered by deceit and the cloak with reconciliation they shall repay, and they shall wish if they became burned by fire.
παιδίον ἐγεννήθη ἡμῖν υἱὸς καὶ ἐδόθη ἡμῖν οὗ ἡ ἀρχὴ ἐγενήθη ἐπὶ τοῦ ὤμου αὐτοῦ καὶ καλεῖται τὸ ὄνομα αὐτοῦ μεγάλης βουλῆς ἄγγελος ἐγὼ γὰρ ἄξω εἰρήνην ἐπὶ τοὺς ἄρχοντας εἰρήνην καὶ ὑγίειαν αὐτῷ
For a child has been born to us, a son, and has been given to us, whose rule has come upon his shoulder, and his name is called Messenger of great counsel; for I will bring peace upon the rulers, peace and health to him.
ἡ ἀρχὴ αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς εἰρήνης αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἔστιν ὅριον ἐπὶ τὸν θρόνον Δαυιδ καὶ τὴν βασιλείαν αὐτοῦ κατορθῶσαι αὐτὴν καὶ ἀντιλαβέσθαι αὐτῆς ἐν δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἐν κρίματι ἀπὸ τοῦ νῦν καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα χρόνον ὁ ζῆλος κυρίου σαβαωθ ποιήσει ταῦτα
Great is his rule, and of his peace there is no limit, upon the throne of David and his kingdom, to establish it and to uphold it in righteousness and in judgment, from now and forever; the zeal of the Lord of Sabaoth will do these things.
The Lord sent death upon Jacob, and it came upon Israel.
And all the people of Ephraim and those who dwell in Samaria will know, in arrogance and in haughty heart, saying
πεπτώκασιν ἀλλὰ δεῦτε λαξεύσωμεν λίθους καὶ ἐκκόψωμεν συκαμίνους καὶ κέδρους καὶ οἰκοδομήσωμεν ἑαυτοῖς πύργον
Brick have fallen, but come, let us hew stones and cut down sycamores and cedars and let us build for ourselves a tower
And God will break those rising up against Mount Zion upon them, and their enemies he will scatter
ἀφ᾿ ἡλίου ἀνατολῶν καὶ τοὺς Ἕλληνας ἀφ᾿ ἡλίου δυσμῶν τοὺς κατεσθίοντας τὸν Ισραηλ ὅλῳ τῷ στόματι ἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ᾿ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
Syria from the rising of the sun and the Greeks from the setting of the sun, those devouring Israel with the whole mouth; in all these things his wrath did not turn back, but still the hand is high.
And the people did not turn back until they were struck, and they did not seek the Lord.
And the Lord took away from Israel head and tail, the great and the small, in one day.
the elder and those who marvel at faces, this is the beginning, and a prophet teaching lawlessness, this is the tail
And those who bless this people will be misleading, and they mislead, so that they may swallow them up.
τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοὺς νεανίσκους αὐτῶν οὐκ εὐφρανθήσεται ὁ θεὸς καὶ τοὺς ὀρφανοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ τὰς χήρας αὐτῶν οὐκ ἐλεήσει ὅτι πάντες ἄνομοι καὶ πονηροί καὶ πᾶν στόμα λαλεῖ ἄδικα ἐπὶ πᾶσιν τούτοις οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ᾿ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
Therefore over their young men God will not rejoice, and he will not have pity on their orphans and their widows, because all are lawless and wicked, and every mouth speaks unjust things. For all these things his wrath has not turned away, but still his hand is high.
καυθήσεται ὡς πῦρ ἡ ἀνομία καὶ ὡς ἄγρωστις ξηρὰ βρωθήσεται ὑπὸ πυρός καὶ καυθήσεται ἐν τοῖς δάσεσι τοῦ δρυμοῦ καὶ συγκαταφάγεται τὰ κύκλῳ τῶν βουνῶν πάντα
And lawlessness shall be burned up like fire, and as dry grass it shall be eaten by fire, and it shall be burned in the thickets of the woodland, and it shall devour all the things around the hills.
θυμὸν ὀργῆς κυρίου συγκέκαυται ἡ γῆ ὅλη καὶ ἔσται ὁ λαὸς ὡς ὑπὸ πυρὸς κατακεκαυμένος ἄνθρωπος τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἐλεήσει
Through the wrath of anger of the Lord the whole land has been burned together, and the people shall be as a man burned up by fire; each one will not have mercy on his brother.
ἐκκλινεῖ εἰς τὰ δεξιά ὅτι πεινάσει καὶ φάγεται ἐκ τῶν ἀριστερῶν καὶ οὐ μὴ ἐμπλησθῇ ἄνθρωπος ἔσθων τὰς σάρκας τοῦ βραχίονος αὐτοῦ
but he will turn to the right, for he will be hungry and will eat from the left, and he shall by no means be satisfied, a man eating the flesh of his arm
γὰρ Μανασση τοῦ Εφραιμ καὶ Εφραιμ τοῦ Μανασση ὅτι ἅμα πολιορκήσουσιν τὸν Ιουδαν ἐπὶ τούτοις πᾶσιν οὐκ ἀπεστράφη ὁ θυμός ἀλλ᾿ ἔτι ἡ χεὶρ ὑψηλή
For Manasseh shall devour Ephraim, and Ephraim Manasseh; for together they shall besiege Judah. In all these things his anger has not turned away, but still his hand is high.
