abandoned forever, for a bed of flocks and for a resting place, and there will be no one pursuing
οὐκέτι ἔσται ὀχυρὰ τοῦ καταφυγεῖν Εφραιμ καὶ οὐκέτι ἔσται βασιλεία ἐν Δαμασκῷ καὶ τὸ λοιπὸν τῶν Σύρων ἀπολεῖται οὐ γὰρ σὺ βελτίων εἶ τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ τῆς δόξης αὐτῶν τάδε λέγει κύριος σαβαωθ
And there shall no longer be a fortress for Ephraim to flee to, and there shall no longer be a kingdom in Damascus, and the remnant of the Syrians shall perish; for you are not better than the sons of Israel and than their glory. Thus says the Lord of hosts.
And it shall be in that day that the glory of Jacob shall fail, and the fatness of his glory shall be shaken.
ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις συναγάγῃ ἀμητὸν ἑστηκότα καὶ σπέρμα σταχύων ἐν τῷ βραχίονι αὐτοῦ ἀμήσῃ καὶ ἔσται ὃν τρόπον ἐάν τις συναγάγῃ στάχυν ἐν φάραγγι στερεᾷ
And it shall be as when someone gathers standing harvest and grain of ears in his arm, he reaps it, and it shall be as when someone gathers an ear in a rocky valley
καταλειφθῇ ἐν αὐτῇ καλάμη ἢ ὡς ῥῶγες ἐλαίας δύο ἢ τρεῖς ἐπ᾿ ἄκρου μετεώρου ἢ τέσσαρες ἢ πέντε ἐπὶ τῶν κλάδων αὐτῶν καταλειφθῇ τάδε λέγει κύριος ὁ θεὸς Ισραηλ
And there shall be left in it gleanings, or as two or three olive berries on the topmost bough, or four or five on its branches, there shall be left. Thus says the Lord God of Israel.
ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ πεποιθὼς ἔσται ἄνθρωπος ἐπὶ τῷ ποιήσαντι αὐτόν οἱ δὲ ὀφθαλμοὶ αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν ἅγιον τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐμβλέψονται
In that day a man will trust in the one who made him, and his eyes will look to the Holy One of Israel.
οὐ μὴ πεποιθότες ὦσιν ἐπὶ τοῖς βωμοῖς οὐδὲ ἐπὶ τοῖς ἔργοις τῶν χειρῶν αὐτῶν ἃ ἐποίησαν οἱ δάκτυλοι αὐτῶν καὶ οὐκ ὄψονται τὰ δένδρα αὐτῶν οὐδὲ τὰ βδελύγματα αὐτῶν
and they shall by no means trust in the altars, nor in the works of their hands, which their fingers made, and they shall not look on their trees, nor their abominations
ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ ἔσονται αἱ πόλεις σου ἐγκαταλελειμμέναι ὃν τρόπον ἐγκατέλιπον οἱ Αμορραῖοι καὶ οἱ Ευαῖοι ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἔσονται ἔρημοι
In that day your cities will be abandoned, in the manner that the Amorrites and the Hivites abandoned before the sons of Israel, and they will be desolate.
κατέλιπες τὸν θεὸν τὸν σωτῆρά σου καὶ κυρίου τοῦ βοηθοῦ σου οὐκ ἐμνήσθης διὰ τοῦτο φυτεύσεις φύτευμα ἄπιστον καὶ σπέρμα ἄπιστον
Because you have abandoned God your savior, and you did not remember the Lord your helper; for this reason you will plant an unfaithful planting and an unfaithful seed
δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ᾗ ἂν φυτεύσῃς πλανηθήσῃ τὸ δὲ πρωί ἐὰν σπείρῃς ἀνθήσει εἰς ἀμητὸν ᾗ ἂν ἡμέρᾳ κληρώσῃ καὶ ὡς πατὴρ ἀνθρώπου κληρώσῃ τοῖς υἱοῖς σου
But on the day on which you may plant, you will go astray; and in the morning, if you sow, it will blossom for harvest, on whichever day you may allot, and as a father of a man he will allot to your sons.
Woe, multitude of many nations! As the sea surging, so you shall be troubled, and the back of many nations shall sound like water.
ὕδωρ πολὺ ἔθνη πολλά ὡς ὕδατος πολλοῦ βίᾳ καταφερομένου καὶ ἀποσκορακιεῖ αὐτὸν καὶ πόρρω αὐτὸν διώξεται ὡς χνοῦν ἀχύρου λικμώντων ἀπέναντι ἀνέμου καὶ ὡς κονιορτὸν τροχοῦ καταιγὶς φέρουσα
Like much water, many nations, like the force of much water being carried down, and he will drive it away and pursue it far, like the chaff of straw when men winnow before the wind, and like the dust of a wheel, a whirlwind carrying it along
ἑσπέραν ἔσται πένθος πρὶν ἢ πρωὶ καὶ οὐκ ἔσται αὕτη ἡ μερὶς τῶν ὑμᾶς προνομευσάντων καὶ κληρονομία τοῖς ὑμᾶς κληρονομήσασιν
At evening there will be mourning; before morning, and this will not be the portion of those who plundered you, and the inheritance of those who inherited you.
