A vision has been announced to me, and hard: the one who sets aside sets aside, the one who acts lawlessly acts lawlessly; against me the Elamites and the envoys of the Persians are coming. Now I will groan and comfort myself.
Therefore my loin has been filled with weakness, and pains have taken hold of me; I acted unjustly as the one giving birth, I hastened not to hear, I hastened not to see.
My heart wanders, and lawlessness baptizes me; my soul has stood upon fear.
Prepare the table, drink, eat; rise up, O princes, prepare shields.
For thus the Lord said to me: Going, set up for yourself a watchman, and whatever you may see, report it.
and I saw horsemen mounted, two riders, a rider of a donkey and a rider of a camel, to hear, hearing much
And call Uriah to the watchtower of the Lord. And he said, I stood continually by day, and on the camp I stood all the night.
And behold, he himself comes, rider of a pair of horses, and answering he said, Babylon has fallen, and all her idols and her handmade things have been broken to the ground.
Hear, you who are left and you who are in pain; hear what I heard from the Lord of Sabaoth. The God of Israel declared it to us.
The vision of Idumea calls to me from Seir: Keep watch on the ramparts.
I watch for the morning and the night; if you seek, seek, and dwell by me.
In the thicket of evening you shall lodge, in the way of Dedan.
Bring water to the thirsty, you who dwell in the land of Tema; meet the fugitives with bread.
Because of the multitude of those fleeing and because of the multitude of those wandering and because of the multitude of the sword and because of the multitude of the bows that are stretched out and because of the multitude of those fallen in the war
For thus the Lord said to me: Yet a year, as a hired worker’s year, and the glory of the sons of Kedar will fail.
And the remnant of the arrows of the mighty sons of Kedar shall be few, because the Lord has spoken, the God of Israel.
