The oracle of the valley of Zion: What has happened to you now, that you all have gone up to the rooftops?

Full of empty things was the city, full of shouting; your wounded are not wounded by the sword, nor are your dead dead of war

All your rulers have fled, and those who were taken have been bound hard, and those who were strong in you have fled far away.

Therefore I said, Leave me alone; I will weep bitterly; do not exert yourselves to comfort me over the ruin of the daughter of my people.

For it is a day of trouble and of destruction and of trampling and of wandering from the Lord of hosts in the valley of Zion; they wander from small to great; they wander to the mountains

And the Elamites took quivers, horsemen, men on horses, and a gathering of battle line

And your choice valleys shall be filled with chariots, and the horsemen shall block your gates.

And they will uncover the gates of Judah, and they will look in that day to the chosen houses of the city.

And they uncovered the hidden things of the houses of the citadel of David, and they saw that they are many, and that they turned back the water of the ancient pool into the city

And because they tore down the houses of Jerusalem to fortify the wall for the city

And you made for yourselves water between the two walls, inward of the ancient pool, and you did not look to the one who made it from the beginning, and the one who created it you did not see.

And the Lord of hosts called in that day for weeping and for lamentation and for shaving and for girding of sackcloth

But they made gladness and rejoicing, slaughtering calves and sacrificing sheep, so as to eat flesh and drink wine, saying, Let us eat and let us drink, for tomorrow we die.

And these things have been uncovered in the ears of the Lord of hosts: that this sin shall not be forgiven you until you die

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Go to the treasury chamber, to Somna the treasurer, and say to him

What have you here, and what is yours here, that you have hewn out for yourself here a tomb, and have made for yourself a tomb in a high place, and have written for yourself a tent in the rock?

Behold, now, the Lord of hosts will throw out and will break in pieces a man, and will take away your robe.

and your glorious crown he will hurl you into a large and immeasurable land, and there you will die, and he will make your good chariot into dishonor, and the house of your ruler into trampling

And you shall be removed from your office and from your station.

And it shall be in that day, I will call my servant Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah

and I will clothe him with your robe, and your crown I will give to him, and your dominion and your stewardship I will give into his hands, and he will be as a father to those dwelling in Jerusalem and to those dwelling in Judah

And I will give the glory of David to him, and he shall rule, and there will be no one contradicting.

And I will set him as ruler in a faithful place, and he shall be for a throne of glory of his father’s house

And every glorious one in his father’s house, from small to great, will trust on him, and they will be hanging on him.

On that day, thus says the Lord of hosts: the man who is established in a faithful place will be moved, and he will fall, and the glory that is upon him will be taken away, because the Lord has spoken.
