Woe to the crown of insolence, the hired men of Ephraim, the flower that has fallen from glory, on the head of the fat mountain, those who are drunk without wine

Behold, strong and hard is the wrath of the Lord, like hail borne down, having no shelter, borne down by force, like a great multitude of water dragging a land; it shall make a resting place for the hands on the earth.

And the crown of insolence shall be trampled underfoot by the feet, the hired men of Ephraim

and the blossom that has fallen from the hope of glory shall be on the top of the high mountain, like an early fig; the one who sees it, before he can take it into his hand, will want to swallow it up

In that day the Lord of hosts shall be the crown of hope, the woven wreath of glory, for the remnant of my people

they shall be left upon a spirit of judgment for judgment, and strength, hindering to take away

For these also have gone astray because of wine, have been led astray because of strong drink; priest and prophet were beside themselves because of strong drink, they were shaken because of drunkenness, they have gone astray through strong drink; this is, a vision

A curse shall eat this counsel, for this counsel is because of greediness.

To whom shall we declare evils, and to whom shall we declare a message? Those weaned from milk, those drawn away from the breast.

Affliction upon affliction, receive, hope upon hope, yet a little, yet a little

By means of the scornfulness of lips, by means of another tongue, because they will speak to this people

saying to him, This is the rest for the hungry, and this is the crushing, and they were not willing to hear

And the word of the Lord God will be to them affliction upon affliction, hope upon hope, yet a little, yet a little, so that they may go and fall backward, and they will be endangered and shattered and captured

Therefore hear the word of the Lord, oppressed men and rulers of this people who are in Jerusalem

For you have said, We have made a covenant with Hades, and with Death agreements; when a rushing storm passes by, it shall by no means come upon us; we have made falsehood our hope, and we shall be covered with falsehood.

Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I will lay in the foundations of Zion a precious, chosen, cornerstone, precious for its foundations; and the one who believes on him shall by no means be put to shame.

And I will make judgment into hope, and my mercy into balances; and those who have trusted in vain in falsehood, that a storm shall by no means pass over you.

and then your covenant with death will be taken away, and your hope toward Hades will by no means endure; a sweeping storm, if it comes, you will be to it for trampling down

When it passes by, it will take you; morning by morning it will pass by, by day and in the night there will be evil hope. Learn to hear.

We are hard-pressed; we cannot fight, and we ourselves are weak, for us to be gathered together.

as at the mount of the ungodly he will rise up and will be in the valley of Gabaon; with wrath he will do his works, works of bitterness, but his wrath will use itself in a strange way, and his bitterness will be strange

And do not be glad, nor let your bonds be strengthened, for I have heard from the Lord of hosts things completed and cut short, which he will do upon all the earth.

Give ear and hear my voice; pay attention and hear my words

Does the plowman plow all the day, or will he prepare seed before working the ground?

Does he not, when he has made its surface level, then sow the black cumin and cumin, and again sow wheat and barley and spelt in your borders?

And you will be instructed in the judgment of your God, and you will rejoice

For the black cumin is not threshed with harshness, nor does a wagon wheel roll over cumin, but the black cumin is beaten out with a rod, and the cumin,

With bread it shall be eaten; for I shall not be angry with you forever, nor shall the voice of my bitterness trample you.

And these things came forth from the Lord of Sabaoth; devise wonders, exalt vain consolation.
