Listen to me, islands, and pay attention, nations; for a long time he will stand, says the Lord; from the womb of my mother he called my name

And he made my mouth like a sharp sword, and under the shelter of his hand he hid me; he made me like a chosen arrow, and in his quiver he covered me.

And he said to me, You are my servant, Israel, and in you I will be glorified.

And I said, I have labored in vain, and for nothing and to no purpose I have given my strength; therefore my judgment is with the Lord, and my toil before my God.

And now thus says the Lord, who formed me from the womb as a servant for himself, to gather Jacob and Israel to him: I shall be gathered and shall be glorified before the Lord, and my God shall be my strength.

And he said to me, It is a great thing for you to be called my servant, for the setting up of the tribes of Jacob and the dispersion of Israel to bring back; behold, I have set you as a covenant of a race, as a light of nations, for you to be for salvation to the end of the earth.

Thus says the Lord who has delivered you, the God of Israel: Sanctify him who despises his soul, him who is abhorred by the nations, the slave of rulers; kings shall see him and princes shall rise up and shall worship him, because of the Lord, because the Holy One of Israel is faithful, and I have chosen you.

Thus says the Lord: In an acceptable time I heard you, and in a day of salvation I helped you, and I gave you as a covenant of nations, to establish the land and to inherit the inheritance of the wilderness.

saying to those in bonds, Come out, and to those in the darkness, Be revealed; and in all their ways they shall be fed, and in all their paths their pasture

They shall not hunger, neither shall they thirst, neither shall heat strike them nor the sun; but he who has mercy on them shall comfort them, and he shall lead them by springs of waters.

And I will make every mountain into a way and every path into pasture for them

Behold, these come from far away, these from the north, and these from the sea, but others from the land of the Persians

Be glad, O heavens, and let the earth rejoice; let the mountains burst forth with gladness, and the hills with righteousness, because God has shown mercy to his people, and he has comforted the lowly of his people.

But Zion said, The Lord has abandoned me, and the Lord has forgotten me.

Can a woman forget her child, so as not to have compassion on the offspring of her womb? But even if a woman should forget these things, yet I will not forget you, says the Lord.

Behold, on my hands I have engraved your walls, and before me you are continually.

And you shall be quickly rebuilt by those by whom you were torn down, and those who made you desolate shall go out from you.

Lift up your eyes round about and see; behold, all have been gathered and have come to you. As I live, says the Lord, because you shall clothe all of them and put them on as a bride’s adornment.

For your desolations and your ruined places and your fallen places now shall be too cramped for the inhabitants, and those who swallow you up shall be far away from you.

For your sons whom you lost will say in your ears, The place is too narrow for me; make a place for me that I may dwell.

And you will say in your heart, Who has begotten these for me, and I am childless and a widow; and these, who has brought them up for me? And I was left alone; and these, where were they for me?

Thus says the Lord: behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and to the islands I will raise my signal, and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters they shall carry on shoulders.

And kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers; upon the face of the earth they shall bow down to you, and they shall lick the dust of your feet, and you shall know that I am the Lord, and you shall not be put to shame.

Can anyone take plunder from a giant, and if anyone takes captive unjustly, will he be saved?

Thus says the Lord: if anyone should capture a giant, he will take spoil; but if one takes from a strong man, he will be saved. But I will judge your case, and I myself will rescue your sons.

And those who afflicted you shall eat their own flesh, and they shall drink their own blood like new wine, and they shall be drunk, and all flesh shall know that I am the Lord who has delivered you and who helps Jacob’s strength.
