Run about in the streets of Jerusalem and see and know and seek in her broad places if you may find a man, if there is one doing justice and seeking faithfulness, and I will be merciful to them, says the Lord.

As the Lord lives, they say; therefore they do not swear by falsehoods.

Lord, your eyes are toward faithfulness; you scourged them, but they did not grieve. You brought them to an end, but they were not willing to receive discipline; they made their faces harder than rock, and they were not willing to turn back.

And I said, Perhaps they are poor, because they were not able, because they did not know the way of the Lord and the judgment of God.

I will go to the great men and speak to them, because they have known the way of the Lord and the judgment of God; and behold, they have broken the yoke together, they have torn apart the bonds.

Therefore a lion from the forest has struck them, and a wolf has destroyed them as far as the houses, and a leopard has watched over their cities; all who go out from them will be hunted, because their impieties have multiplied, they have become strong in their turnings away.

How shall I be gracious to you for these things? Your sons forsook me and swore by the gods that are not, and I satisfied them, and they committed adultery, and in the houses of harlots they lodged.

They became lustful horses, each one neighed after his neighbor’s wife.

Shall I not visit upon these things, says the Lord, or shall not my soul take vengeance on such a nation?

Go up upon her battlements and tear down, but do not make a full end; leave her supports, for they are the Lord’s.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have utterly dealt faithlessly with me, says the Lord.

They have lied to their Lord and said, These things are not; evils will not come upon us, and we shall not see sword and famine.

Our prophets were for wind, and there was no word of the Lord in them; thus it will be to them.

Therefore thus says the Lord Almighty: Because you spoke this word, behold, I have given my words into your mouth as fire, and this people as wood, and it shall devour them.

Behold, I am bringing upon you a nation from far away, O house of Israel, says the Lord, a nation whose voice of tongue you will not hear.

And they shall eat your harvest and your loaves and they shall eat your sons and your daughters and they shall eat your sheep and your calves and they shall eat your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive groves, and they shall devastate your fortified cities, in which you have trusted, with the sword

And it shall be in those days, says the Lord your God, I will not by any means make you into a complete end.

And it shall be, when you say, For what reason has the Lord our God done to us all these things? then you shall say to them, Because you served foreign gods in your land, so you shall serve foreigners in a land not yours.

Declare these things in the house of Jacob, and let it be heard in Judah

Hear now these things, foolish people and heartless: eyes are theirs, and they do not see; ears are theirs, and they do not hear.

Will you not fear me, says the Lord, or will you not be in awe before my face, who set the sand as a boundary for the sea, an everlasting decree, and it will not overstep it? And it will be tossed, and it will not be able; and its waves will sound, and it will not overstep it.

But to this people there became a heart that is disobedient and rebellious, and they turned aside and went away

and they did not say in their heart, Let us now fear the Lord our God, the one giving us the early and the late rain in its season, the appointed time of the harvest, and he kept it for us

Your iniquities have turned these things aside, and your sins have kept good things away from you

For among my people were found impious men, and they set snares to destroy men, and they caught them

As a snare standing, full of birds, so their houses are full of deceit; therefore they became great and became rich.

and they passed over justice; they did not judge the justice of the orphan, and the justice of the widow they did not judge

Shall I not visit for these things, says the Lord, or shall not my soul take vengeance on a nation such as this?

A horror and dreadful thing has happened on the land

The prophets prophesy unjust things, and the priests clapped with their hands, and my people loved it so; and what will you do in the things after these?
