Thus says the Lord: behold, I am rousing against Babylon and against the Chaldeans who dwell there a scorching wind, destroying.

and I will send out into Babylon insolent men, and they will insult it and ravage its land. Woe against Babylon all around, in the day of its harm

let the archer who bends his bow bend it against her, and let him who has armor for himself put it on, and do not spare her young men, and destroy all her strength

And the wounded shall fall in the land of the Chaldeans, and those pierced, outside of it.

For Israel and Judah have not been widowed from their God, from the Lord Almighty, because their land was filled with injustice against the holy ones of Israel.

Flee from the midst of Babylon, and let each save his soul, and do not be cast away in her iniquity, for it is a time of her vengeance from the Lord; he himself repays her a recompense.

A golden cup, Babylon, in the hand of the Lord, making drunk all the earth; from the wine of her they drank, nations; therefore they were shaken.

And suddenly Babylon has fallen and has been shattered; lament for her, take balm for her destruction, perhaps she may be healed.

We healed Babylon, and she was not healed; let us leave her and let us depart, each one to his own land, because her judgment has reached up to heaven, it has been lifted up to the stars.

The Lord has brought out his judgment; come, and let us declare in Zion the works of the Lord our God.

Prepare the bows, fill the quivers; the Lord has stirred up the spirit of the king of the Medes, because against Babylon is his wrath, to destroy it, because it is the Lord’s vengeance, vengeance for his people it is.

Upon the walls of Babylon, raise a signal, set up quivers, stir up guards, prepare weapons, for the Lord has undertaken and will do what he spoke against those who dwell in Babylon.

You who dwell upon many waters and upon the abundance of her treasures, your end has come; truly, it has come into your innermost parts.

For the Lord has sworn against his arm, that I will fill you with men like locusts, and those who go down against you will speak against you

He who makes the earth by his strength, preparing the inhabited world by his wisdom, he stretched out the heaven by his understanding.

At the sound he put a roar of water in the heaven, and he brought up clouds from the end of the earth; he made lightnings into rain, and he brought out light from his treasuries.

Every man has become foolish because of knowledge; every goldsmith has been put to shame because of his carved images, because they have poured out lies; there is no spirit in them.

They are vain works; in the time of their visitation they will perish.

Not such is the portion of Jacob, for he who formed all things is himself his inheritance; the Lord is his name.

You scatter for me weapons of war, and I will scatter nations in you, and I will take away kings from you

And I will scatter in you horse and his rider, and I will scatter in you chariots and their riders

And I will scatter in you young man and virgin, and I will scatter in you man and woman

And I will scatter in you shepherd and his flock, and I will scatter in you farmer and his farm, and I will scatter in you your rulers and your generals

And I will repay to Babylon and to all the Chaldeans who dwell there all their evils which they did against Zion before your eyes, says the Lord

Behold, I am against you, O destroying mountain, who destroys all the earth, and I will stretch out my hand against you and roll you down from the rocks, and I will give you as a burnt mountain.

And they shall not take from you a stone for a corner nor a stone for a foundation, for you shall be for destruction forever, says the Lord.

Raise a sign on the earth, sound the trumpet among the nations, consecrate nations against her, summon against her the kingdoms of Ararat, Minni, and Ashkenaz; appoint against her captains, bring up horses against her like a swarm of locusts.

Sanctify nations against it, the king of the Medes and the rulers of all the land, his leaders, and all his generals

The earth was shaken and groaned, because a thought of the Lord rose up against Babylon, to make the land of Babylon into destruction and not to be inhabited.

The warrior of Babylon has failed to fight; they will sit there in a siege. Their dominion was shattered; they became like women. Her tents were burned; her bars were broken.

he who pursues to meet one pursuing shall be pursued, and he who reports to meet one reporting, to report to the king of Babylon that his city has been taken

From the farthest of his crossings they were taken, and their enclosures they burned with fire, and his men, the warriors, are going out

For thus says the Lord: the houses of the king of Babylon shall be threshed like a ripe threshing-floor; yet a little while, and its harvest-time shall come.

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon ate me, divided me, took me; a thin vessel, he swallowed me like a dragon, he filled his belly from my luxury, he drove me out.

My labors and my hardships she who dwells in Zion will say, are in Babylon, and my blood upon those who dwell among the Chaldeans Jerusalem will say.

Therefore thus says the Lord: behold, I will judge your adversary and I will avenge your vengeance and I will make her sea desolate and I will dry up her spring

And Babylon shall be for destruction, and it shall not be inhabited.

They rose up together like lions, and like lion cubs.

In their heat I will give them drink, and I will make them drunk, so that they may become numb and sleep an eternal sleep and not at all be raised up, says the Lord

I will bring them down like lambs to slaughter and like rams with kids.

How has the boast of all the earth been taken and hunted down, how has Babylon become a destruction among the nations

The sea rose over Babylon in the sound of its waves, and it was covered.

Her cities became an waterless and impassable land; no one will dwell in it, nor will a son of man sojourn in it.

And I will take vengeance on Babylon and I will bring out what she swallowed from her mouth, and the nations shall by no means be gathered to her anymore.

And in Babylon the slain of all the earth shall fall

Being saved, go out from the land, and do not stand still. Those far off, remember the Lord, and let Jerusalem come up upon your heart.

We were put to shame, for we heard reproach; dishonor has covered our face. Foreigners entered into our holy places, into the house of the Lord.

Therefore behold, days are coming, says the Lord, and I will take vengeance on her carved images, and in all her land the wounded will fall.

For if Babylon should mount up as high as heaven, and if she should fortify the height of her strength, from me destroyers will come against her, says the Lord

The sound of a cry in Babylon, and great destruction in the land of the Chaldeans.

For the Lord destroyed Babylon and caused to perish from it a great voice sounding like many waters; he gave its voice for destruction.

For hardship has come upon Babylon; her warriors have been captured, their bow has been terrified, because God repays them; the Lord repays to her her recompense.

And he will make drunk with drunkenness her rulers and her wise men and her commanders, says the King, the Lord Almighty is his name.

Thus says the Lord: The wall of Babylon has been widened; being dug down it shall be dug down, and its lofty gates shall be burned with fire, and peoples shall not labor in vain, and nations shall fail by beginning.

The word which the Lord commanded Jeremiah the prophet to say to Seraiah son of Neriah son of Maaseiah, when he was going with Zedekiah king of Judah to Babylon in the fourth year of his reign; and Seraiah was chief of the gifts.

And Jeremiah wrote all the evils that will come upon Babylon in one book, all these words that have been written against Babylon

And Jeremiah said to Seraiah, When you come into Babylon and see and read all these words,

And you shall say, Lord, Lord, you have spoken against this place to destroy it and that there should not be in it those who dwell, from man to beast, because it shall be an annihilation forever.

And it shall be when you cease reading this book, that you shall tie a stone upon it and throw it into the midst of the Euphrates.

And you shall say thus: Babylon shall sink down, and she shall not rise from before the evils that I am bringing upon her.
