The Koine Bible

There was a certain man in the land of Ausitis, whose name was Job, and that man was true, blameless, righteous, godfearing, abstaining from every evil deed.

And there were born to him seven sons and three daughters

And his livestock were seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen, five hundred female donkeys grazing, and very much service, and great works were his on the earth, and that man was distinguished among those from the rising of the sun.

And his sons went together to one another and were making a banquet each day, taking along also the three their sisters to eat and drink with them

And whenever the days of the feast had been completed, Job would send and purify them, rising early in the morning and offering sacrifices for them according to their number and one calf for sin for their lives. For Job said, Perhaps my sons have thought evil things in their mind toward God. Thus then Job did all the days.

And it came to pass on this day, and behold, the angels of God came to stand before the Lord, and the devil came with them.

And the Lord said to the devil, From where have you come? And the devil answered the Lord and said, Having gone around the earth and having walked about under heaven, I am here.

And the Lord said to him, Have you considered in your mind against my servant Job, that there is not on the earth a man like him, blameless, true, godfearing, abstaining from every evil thing?

Then the devil answered and said before the Lord, Does Job fear God for nothing?

Did you not fence round his outside and his inside of his house and the outside of all that belonged to him round about? You blessed the works of his hands, and his livestock you made many on the earth.

But send your hand and touch all that he has; surely he will bless you to your face.

Then the Lord said to the devil, Behold, all that he has I give into your hand, but do not touch him; and the devil went out from the Lord

And it was as this day, the sons of Job and his daughters were drinking wine in the house of their elder brother.

And behold, a messenger came to Job and said to him, The yoke of oxen were plowing, and the female donkeys were grazing beside them

and the captors came and took them captive and killed the servants with swords, and I alone having escaped came to tell you

While this one was still speaking, another messenger came and said to Job, Fire fell from heaven and burned up the sheep and the shepherds and consumed them likewise, and I alone was saved and came to report to you.

While this one was still speaking, another messenger came and said to Job, The horsemen made against us three heads and surrounded the camels and took them captive and killed the servants with swords, and I alone was spared and came to report to you

While this one was still speaking, another messenger comes, saying to Job, your sons and your daughters were eating and drinking with their elder brother.

Suddenly a great wind came upon it from the wilderness and touched the four corners of the house, and the house fell upon your children, and they died; and I alone was saved, and I came to report to you.

Then Job arose and tore his garments and shaved the hair of his head and, falling on the ground, he worshiped and said

Naked I came out from my mother’s womb, and naked I shall depart there. The Lord gave, the Lord took away; as it seemed good to the Lord, so also it came to be. May the name of the Lord be blessed.

In all these things that had happened to him, Job sinned nothing before the Lord, and he did not give foolishness to God.
