How long will you speak these things, a much-speaking spirit of your mouth?
Will the Lord do wrong in judging, or will he who made all things distort justice?
If your sons sinned before him, he sent them away by the hand of their lawlessness.
But you, rise early to the Lord Almighty, making supplication.
If you are pure and true, he will hear your prayer and will restore to you the dwelling of righteousness.
So your beginning things will be few, but your end things beyond number
For ask the first generation, and search out according to the family of the fathers.
For we are yesterday, and we do not know, for our life on the earth is a shadow.
Will not these teach you and tell you and bring forth words from the heart?
Can papyrus flourish without water, or will rush grow tall without drink?
Though it is still on its root and is not yet cut before every herb drinks, does it not dry up?
So then, thus it will be with the end of all who forget the Lord, for the hope of the ungodly will perish
For his house will be uninhabited, and his tent will become a spider’s web.
If he leans on his house, it will not stand; but if he lays hold of it, it will not endure.
For moist he is under the sun, and from his rottenness his branch will go out
Upon a heap of stones he lies down, and in the midst of pebbles he will live.
If the place swallows him up, it will deny him; have you not seen such things?
For such is the ruin of the ungodly, and out of the earth he will sprout another.
For the Lord will by no means reject the innocent, but he will not receive any gift of the ungodly.
Yet he will fill the mouth of the true with laughter, and their lips with confession.
But their enemies will be clothed with shame, and the dwelling of the impious will not be.
