Weary in my soul, groaning, I will let loose my words upon him; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul, being held fast.

and I will say to the Lord, Do not teach me to be ungodly, and why have you judged me so?

Is it good for you if I do wrong, because I will refuse the works of your hands, and you have paid heed to the counsel of the ungodly?

Or do you see as a mortal sees, or as a man looks?

Are your days human, or are your years those of a man?

that you sought out my lawlessness and traced out my sins

For you know that I have not acted impiously, but who is it that is being rescued out of your hands?

Your hands formed me and made me, and after these things, having changed me, you struck me.

Remember that you fashioned me as clay, and into earth you are turning me back again.

Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me as with cheese?

You clothed me with skin and flesh, and with bones and sinews you intertwined me.

And you placed life and mercy beside me, and your oversight has guarded my spirit.

These things, having in yourself, I know that you can do all things, and nothing is impossible for you.

If indeed I should sin, you keep watch over me, and from lawlessness you have not made me innocent.

For whether I be ungodly, woe is me; and whether I be righteous, I cannot lift up my head, for I am full of dishonor.

For I am hunted like a lion for slaughter; but again, having turned, you destroy me terribly.

renewing against me my examination, and with great anger you have used me; and you have brought trials against me

Why then did you bring me out from the womb, and I did not die, and no eye saw me?

and as though I were not, I came to be; for why was I not carried away from the womb into the grave?

Is not the time of my life little? Let me rest a little.

before I go, from where I shall not return, to a dark and gloomy land

to a land of everlasting darkness, where there is no light nor to see the life of mortals
