The Koine Bible

Then Sophar the Minaean answered and says

Do you not think that they will answer you these things, and do you not rather understand, as also I?

I hear the discipline of my shame, and a spirit from understanding answers me.

Do you not know these things from the time since man was placed on the earth?

For the gladness of the impious is a striking downfall, and the rejoicing of the lawless is destruction.

Though his gifts ascend to heaven, and his sacrifice touches the clouds

For when he seems already to have been established, then he will perish utterly; and those who have seen him will say, Where is he?

Like a dream that has flown away, it shall not be found; and it has fled like a night vision.

The eye has looked past him and will not look again, and his place will no longer regard him.

His sons would perish, and his hands would kindle pains.

His bones were filled with his youth, and with him he shall lie down in the dust

Though evil is sweet in his mouth, he will hide it under his tongue

He will not spare it, and he will not leave it, and he will hold it fast in the midst of his throat.

and he will by no means be able to help himself; the poison of a viper is in his belly

Wealth unjustly gathered shall be vomited up from his house; an angel shall drag him out.

He may suck the poison of dragons, and the tongue of a serpent may kill him.

Let him not see the flow of brooks, nor the streams of honey and butter.

For empty and vain things he has labored for wealth, from which he will not taste, like an unchewed, undigested sour thing

For he has crushed the houses of many powerless ones, and he has plundered their dwelling, and he has not set it up.

There is no deliverance for what belongs to him; in his desire he will not be saved.

There is no remnant for his foods; therefore his good things will not flourish.

But when it seems already to be full, all distress will come upon him.

If somehow he might fill his belly, he would send upon him the fury of wrath, to rain upon him pains

And he shall by no means be saved from the hand of iron; a bronze bow shall wound him.

It may pass through his body; and lightnings may walk upon his dwelling places; terrors upon him.

All darkness is reserved for him; an unquenchable fire will consume him and will harm his house, a sojourner.

But let the heaven uncover his iniquities, and let the earth rise up against him.

To drag away his house, destruction to the end; a day of wrath may come upon him

This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of things existing for him from the Overseer.
