But nevertheless, Job, hear my words and listen attentively to my speech.

Behold, for I have opened my mouth, and my tongue has spoken.

My heart is pure in words, and the understanding of my lips is pure in understanding.

The divine spirit made me, and the breath of the Almighty teaches me.

If you are able, give me an answer to these things; endure, stand against me, and I against you.

You are formed out of clay, as also I am; out of the same we have been formed.

My terror will not alarm you, nor will my hand be heavy upon you.

Surely you have said in my ears, I have heard the voice of your words.

For you say, I am pure, I have not sinned; blameless I am, for I have not acted lawlessly.

And he has found complaints against me; and he has considered me as if hostile.

he put my foot in the stocks, and he watched all my ways

For how do you say, I am righteous, and he has not heard me? For he is eternal, being above mortals.

But you say, Why has he not heard every word of my case?

For God speaks once, and the second time by a dream

or in a night meditation, as when a grievous fear falls upon men in slumberings on a bed

then he uncovers the understanding of men in visions of such fearfulness he frightened them

to turn man away from unrighteousness, and he delivered his body from a fall

He has spared his soul from death and from falling in war.

Again also he reproved him in weakness upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones were made numb

and he will be unable to receive any food of grain, and his soul will desire food

until his flesh wastes away and his bones are laid bare, empty

But his soul drew near to death, and his life in Hades.

If there are a thousand death-bearing angels, not one of them at all will wound him, if he should understand in the heart to turn to the Lord, and should declare to a man his own blame, and show his foolishness.

he will hold him back from falling into death, and he will renew his body like an ointment on a wall, and his bones he will fill with marrow

And he will make his flesh soft like a child’s, and he will restore him when he has become a man among men.

And having prayed to the Lord, he will be acceptable to him, and he will enter with a clean face; and with release he will repay righteousness to men.

Then afterwards a man himself will blame himself, saying, such things I did, and they were not worthy; he chastened me for what I sinned.

He has delivered my soul from going into corruption, and my life will see the light.

Behold, all these things the Mighty One works, three ways with a man.

but he has delivered my soul from death, so that my life may praise him in the light

Pay attention, Job, and hear me; be silent, and I will speak.

If there are words, answer me; speak, for I want to justify you.

If not, do you listen to me? Be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.
