Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: When you enter into the land which I give you, then the land shall rest, the land which I give you, sabbaths to the Lord.
Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and you shall gather its fruit.
But in the seventh year there shall be sabbaths of rest for the land, sabbaths to the Lord; your field you shall not sow, and your vine you shall not prune.
And the volunteer growths of your field you shall not reap, and the grapes of your consecration you shall not gather; it shall be a year of rest for the land.
And the sabbaths of the land shall be food for you and for your male servant and for your female servant and for your hired worker and for the stranger staying with you, who joins himself to you
And for your livestock and for the wild animals that are in your land, all its produce shall be for food.
And you shall count for yourself seven rest years, seven years seven times, and there shall be for you seven weeks of years, forty-nine years.
And you shall proclaim with the sound of a trumpet in all your land; in the seventh month, on the tenth of the month, on the day of atonement, you shall proclaim with a trumpet in all your land
And you shall consecrate the fiftieth year, and you shall proclaim release throughout the land to all who dwell in it; it shall be a year of release for you, and each one shall return to his possession, and each one shall return to his family land.
A release, this is its meaning: the fiftieth year shall be a year for you; you shall not sow, nor reap its self-sown growth, and you shall not gather in its consecrated things.
For it is a sign of release; it shall be holy to you. From the fields you shall eat its produce.
In the year of the release each man shall return to his possession.
And if you sell anything to your neighbor, or if you buy from your neighbor, let no man oppress his neighbor
According to the number of years after the valuation you shall buy from your neighbor; according to the number of years of produce it shall be given back to you
According as he shall increase the acquisition of it the more years, and according as he shall diminish the possession of it the fewer years, because according to the number of its produce he shall thus return to you
Let no man oppress his neighbor, and you shall fear the Lord your God, for I am the Lord your God.
And you shall do all my statutes and all my judgments, and you shall keep and do them, and you shall dwell upon the land, trusting
and the land shall give its produce, and you shall eat to fullness, and you shall dwell trusting upon it
And if you say, What shall we eat in this seventh year, if we do not sow nor gather in our produce?
And I will send my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall produce its yield for the three years.
And you shall sow in the eighth year and you shall eat from the produce old until the ninth year, until its produce comes you shall eat old things of old things
And the land shall not be sold for a permanent possession, for the land is mine, because you are sojourners and residents with me.
And in all the land of your possession you shall give redemption for the land
But if your brother with you becomes poor and sells away from his holding, and his redeemer, the nearest one of his kin, comes and redeems his brother’s sale,
And if there is not to a man one who is near of kin, and his hand becomes prosperous, and there is found with him the sufficient amount for his ransom,
and he shall reckon the years of his sale and shall return that which is in excess to the man to whom he sold himself, and he shall go back to his possession
But if his hand does not prosper sufficiently so as to give back to him, then the sale shall remain with the buyer of them until the sixth year of the release, and he shall go out at the release and return to his possession.
And if anyone sells a dwelling house in a walled city, then its redemption shall be until a full year of days; its redemption shall be.
But if it is not redeemed until a whole year is completed for it, the house that is in a city having a wall shall be confirmed securely to the one who acquired it, for his generations, and it shall not go out in the release.
But the houses in the villages, which do not have a wall around them, shall be reckoned as redeemable with the field of the land; they shall always be redeemable, and in the release they shall go out.
And the cities of the Levites, the houses of the cities of their possession, shall be perpetual redemption for the Levites.
And whoever shall have redeemed from the Levites, then the sale of their houses of the city of their possession shall go out in the release, because the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the sons of Israel
And the fields set apart to their cities shall not be sold, for this is their perpetual possession.
And if your brother becomes poor and is unable with his hands beside you, you shall take hold of him as of a sojourner and a resident alien, and your brother shall live with you
You shall not take interest from him, nor increase, and you shall fear your God; I am the Lord, and your brother shall live with you.
You shall not give him your silver on interest, and you shall not give him your foodstuffs for increase.
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan, so as to be your God
And if your brother is brought low beside you and is sold to you, he shall not serve you as a slave service of a household servant
he shall be with you like a hired worker or a sojourner until the year of release; he shall work beside you
And he shall go out in the release, and his children with him, and he shall go away to his generation, to the ancestral possession he shall run back.
For these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt; they shall not be sold in the sale of a servant.
You shall not oppress him with labor, and you shall fear the Lord your God.
And male slave and female slave, as many as may be yours from the nations, as many as are around you, from them you shall acquire a male slave and a female slave
And from the sons of the sojourners who are among you, from these you shall acquire, and from their relatives, as many as may be born in your land; let them be for you as a possession.
And you shall apportion them to your children after you, and they shall be for you possessions forever; from your brothers, the sons of Israel, each one shall not overwork his brother in labor.
And if the hand of the sojourner or of the resident alien with you finds means, and your brother becomes poor and is sold to the sojourner or to the resident alien with you, to the sojourner by birth,
After he has been sold, there shall be redemption for him; one of his brothers shall redeem him.
his father’s brother or a son of his father’s brother shall ransom him, or one of his near kin of his flesh from his tribe shall ransom him; but if he has prospered by his hands, let him ransom himself
And he shall reckon with the one who acquired him from the year when he sold himself to him until the year of release; and the money of his sale shall be as a hired man’s, year by year it shall be with him.
And if there are more years remaining for him than these, he shall pay back his redemption money from the silver of his sale.
And if there remain a little from the years until the year of release, then it shall be reckoned to him according to his years, and he shall pay his redemption price.
As a hired worker, year by year he shall be with him; you shall not oppress him with labor before you.
But if he is not redeemed according to these things, he shall go out in the year of release, he himself and his children with him
For the sons of Israel are my servants; these are my servants, whom I brought out of the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.
