Numbers 10 — Rahlfs Septuagint

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying

σεαυτῷ δύο σάλπιγγας ἀργυρᾶς ἐλατὰς ποιήσεις αὐτάς καὶ ἔσονταί σοι ἀνακαλεῖν τὴν συναγωγὴν καὶ ἐξαίρειν τὰς παρεμβολάς

Make for yourself two silver trumpets; beaten ones you shall make them, and they shall be for you to summon the congregation and to set out the camps.

σαλπίσεις ἐν αὐταῖς καὶ συναχθήσεται πᾶσα ἡ συναγωγὴ ἐπὶ τὴν θύραν τῆς σκηνῆς τοῦ μαρτυρίου

And you shall sound the trumpets with them, and all the congregation shall be gathered to the entrance of the tent of testimony.

δὲ ἐν μιᾷ σαλπίσωσιν προσελεύσονται πρὸς σὲ πάντες οἱ ἄρχοντες ἀρχηγοὶ Ισραηλ

But if they sound with one trumpet, all the leaders, the heads of Israel, shall come near to you.

5

σαλπιεῖτε σημασίαν καὶ ἐξαροῦσιν αἱ παρεμβολαὶ αἱ παρεμβάλλουσαι ἀνατολάς

And you shall sound a signal blast, and the camps encamped on the east shall set out.

6

And you shall blow a second signal, and the camps that are encamped southward shall set out; and you shall blow a third signal, and the camps that are encamped by the sea shall set out; and you shall blow a fourth signal, and the camps that are encamped toward the north shall set out; they shall blow a signal for their setting out.

ὅταν συναγάγητε τὴν συναγωγήν σαλπιεῖτε καὶ οὐ σημασίᾳ

And when you gather the assembly, you shall sound the trumpet, and not with a signal.

8

οἱ υἱοὶ Ααρων οἱ ἱερεῖς σαλπιοῦσιν ταῖς σάλπιγξιν καὶ ἔσται ὑμῖν νόμιμον αἰώνιον εἰς τὰς γενεὰς ὑμῶν

And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall trumpet with the trumpets, and it shall be for you an eternal statute throughout your generations.

And if you go out to war in your land against the adversaries who stand against you and you shall sound the trumpets, then you shall be remembered before the Lord and you shall be saved from your enemies

10

And in the days of your rejoicing and in your feasts and in your new moons you shall sound with the trumpets over your whole burnt offerings and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings, and it shall be for you a memorial before your God; I am the Lord your God.

11

And it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, the cloud rose up from the tent of the testimony

ἐξῆραν οἱ υἱοὶ Ισραηλ σὺν ἀπαρτίαις αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ Σινα καὶ ἔστη ἡ νεφέλη ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ τοῦ Φαραν

And the sons of Israel set out according to their divisions in the wilderness of Sinai, and the cloud came to rest in the wilderness of Paran

ἐξῆραν πρῶτοι διὰ φωνῆς κυρίου ἐν χειρὶ Μωυσῆ

And they set out first by the command of the Lord through the hand of Moses

14

ἐξῆραν τάγμα παρεμβολῆς υἱῶν Ιουδα πρῶτοι σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτῶν Ναασσων υἱὸς Αμιναδαβ

And the camp of the sons of Judah set out first by their division with their forces, and over their forces was Nahshon son of Amminadab

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Ισσαχαρ Ναθαναηλ υἱὸς Σωγαρ

and over the force of the tribe of the sons of Issachar was Nathanael son of Sogar

16

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Ζαβουλων Ελιαβ υἱὸς Χαιλων

And over the force of the tribe of the sons of Zebulun was Eliab son of Helon.

17

καθελοῦσιν τὴν σκηνὴν καὶ ἐξαροῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Γεδσων καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ Μεραρι αἴροντες τὴν σκηνήν

And they shall take down the tent, and the sons of Gedson and the sons of Merari shall set out, bearing the tent

ἐξῆραν τάγμα παρεμβολῆς Ρουβην σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτῶν Ελισουρ υἱὸς Σεδιουρ

And the camp of Reuben set out by division, with their force; and over their force was Elizur son of Shedeur

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Συμεων Σαλαμιηλ υἱὸς Σουρισαδαι

and over the force of the tribe of the sons of Simeon, Salamiēl son of Sourisadai

20

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Γαδ Ελισαφ ὁ τοῦ Ραγουηλ

and over the host of the tribe of the sons of Gad was Eliasaph the son of Reuel

21

ἐξαροῦσιν οἱ υἱοὶ Κααθ αἴροντες τὰ ἅγια καὶ στήσουσιν τὴν σκηνήν ἕως παραγένωνται

And the sons of Kohath shall set out, carrying the holy things, and they shall set up the tent until they come in.

22

ἐξαροῦσιν τάγμα παρεμβολῆς Εφραιμ σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτῶν Ελισαμα υἱὸς Εμιουδ

And the camp of Ephraim shall set out by division with their force, and over their force shall be Elishama son of Ammihud

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Μανασση Γαμαλιηλ ὁ τοῦ Φαδασσουρ

And over the force of the tribe of the sons of Manasseh was Gamaliel son of Padasur.

24

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Βενιαμιν Αβιδαν ὁ τοῦ Γαδεωνι

and over the force of the tribe of the sons of Benjamin, Abidan son of Gideoni

25

And the camp of the sons of Dan shall set out last of all the camps, with their force; and over their force, Ahiezer son of Amisadai.

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Ασηρ Φαγαιηλ υἱὸς Εχραν

and over the host of the tribe of the sons of Asher was Pagiel son of Ochran

27

ἐπὶ τῆς δυνάμεως φυλῆς υἱῶν Νεφθαλι Αχιρε υἱὸς Αιναν

and over the force of the tribe of the sons of Naphtali was Achira son of Enan

28

αἱ στρατιαὶ υἱῶν Ισραηλ καὶ ἐξῆραν σὺν δυνάμει αὐτῶν

These are the camps of the sons of Israel, and they set out with their forces.

29

And Moses said to Hobab son of Raguel the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law, We are setting out to the place of which the Lord said, This I will give to you; come with us, and we will do you good, because the Lord has spoken good things concerning Israel.

30

εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν οὐ πορεύσομαι ἀλλὰ εἰς τὴν γῆν μου καὶ εἰς τὴν γενεάν μου

And he said to him, I will not go, but to my land and to my kindred.

31

εἶπεν μὴ ἐγκαταλίπῃς ἡμᾶς οὗ εἵνεκεν ἦσθα μεθ᾿ ἡμῶν ἐν τῇ ἐρήμῳ καὶ ἔσῃ ἐν ἡμῖν πρεσβύτης

And he said, Do not leave us, because you were with us in the wilderness, and you will be among us an elder.

32

ἔσται ἐὰν πορευθῇς μεθ᾿ ἡμῶν καὶ ἔσται τὰ ἀγαθὰ ἐκεῖνα ὅσα ἐὰν ἀγαθοποιήσῃ κύριος ἡμᾶς καὶ εὖ σε ποιήσομεν

And it shall be, if you go with us, and it shall be that good things, whatever the Lord may do good for us, and we will do you good.

33

And they set out from the mountain of the Lord a journey of three days, and the ark of the covenant of the Lord went before them, a journey of three days, to seek out for them a resting place.

34

And it came to pass when the ark set out, that Moses said, Rise up, Lord, and let your enemies be scattered, and let all those who hate you flee away.

35

ἐν τῇ καταπαύσει εἶπεν ἐπίστρεφε κύριε χιλιάδας μυριάδας ἐν τῷ Ισραηλ

And when it rested, he said: Return, Lord, to the thousands of tens of thousands in Israel.

36

ἡ νεφέλη ἐγένετο σκιάζουσα ἐπ᾿ αὐτοῖς ἡμέρας ἐν τῷ ἐξαίρειν αὐτοὺς ἐκ τῆς παρεμβολῆς

And the cloud became overshadowing over them by day, when they set out from the camp
