so that you may keep good intention, and I command you to have discernment from my lips
πρόσεχε φαύλῃ γυναικί μέλι γὰρ ἀποστάζει ἀπὸ χειλέων γυναικὸς πόρνης ἣ πρὸς καιρὸν λιπαίνει σὸν φάρυγγα
Do not pay attention to an evil woman, for honey drips from the lips of a harlot woman, who for a time smooths your throat.
but afterward you will find it more bitter than gall and sharpened rather than a two-edged sword
γὰρ ἀφροσύνης οἱ πόδες κατάγουσιν τοὺς χρωμένους αὐτῇ μετὰ θανάτου εἰς τὸν ᾅδην τὰ δὲ ἴχνη αὐτῆς οὐκ ἐρείδεται
For the feet of folly lead down those who use her with death to Hades, but her tracks are not set firm.
For the paths of life she does not go; and her tracks are not stable, but they are not known.
And now, my son, listen to me and do not make my words void.
Make your way far from her; do not come near to the doors of her houses.
lest you give your life to others and your livelihood to the merciless
lest strangers be filled with your strength, and your labors enter into the houses of strangers
and you will regret it at the end, when the flesh of your body is worn out
And you will say, How I hated instruction, and my heart turned aside reproofs.
I did not hear the voice of one who was disciplining me and teaching me, and I did not incline my ear
I was almost in every evil in the midst of an assembly and congregation
Drink waters from your own vessels and from your own wells, the source.
Let not the waters from your spring overflow for you; and let your waters go through your streets.
Let them be for you alone and let no stranger share with you.
Let your spring of water be for you your own, and rejoice with the wife of your youth
φιλίας καὶ πῶλος σῶν χαρίτων ὁμιλείτω σοι ἡ δὲ ἰδία ἡγείσθω σου καὶ συνέστω σοι ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ ἐν γὰρ τῇ ταύτης φιλίᾳ συμπεριφερόμενος πολλοστὸς ἔσῃ
A deer of friendship and a foal of your favors let it be intimate with you; and let her own lead you, and let her be with you at every time, for in the friendship of this one, going about together, you will be multiplied.
Do not be much with a strange woman, nor embrace in the arms of one not your own.
For the ways of a man are before the eyes of God, and he watches all his tracks.
Iniquities hunt a man, but each one is bound by the cords of his own sins
He ends with the untrained, and from the abundance of his own life he was cast out and perished through folly
