A king’s threat differs not from the wrath of a lion, and he who provokes him sins against his own soul.
It is glory for a man to turn away from insults, but every fool gets entangled with such things.
A lazy man being reproached is not ashamed; likewise also the one who borrows grain in harvest-time.
Deep water is counsel in a man’s heart, but a prudent man will draw it out.
A great man and a man of mercy is precious; but to find a faithful man is a work.
He who walks in blamelessness in righteousness will leave behind his children blessed.
When a righteous king sits on a throne, every evil thing does not oppose itself in his eyes.
καυχήσεται ἁγνὴν ἔχειν τὴν καρδίαν ἢ τίς παρρησιάσεται καθαρὸς εἶναι ἀπὸ ἁμαρτιῶν πατέρα ἢ μητέρα σβεσθήσεται λαμπτήρ αἱ δὲ κόραι τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν αὐτοῦ ὄψονται σκότος ἐπισπουδαζομένη ἐν πρώτοις ἐν τοῖς τελευταίοις οὐκ εὐλογηθήσεται εἴπῃς τείσομαι τὸν ἐχθρόν ἀλλὰ ὑπόμεινον τὸν κύριον ἵνα σοι βοηθήσῃ
Who will boast of having a pure heart? Or who will be bold to be clean from sins?
A large weight and a small, and two kinds of measures, are unclean before the Lord, and both.
ὁ ποιῶν αὐτὰ ἐν τοῖς ἐπιτηδεύμασιν αὐτοῦ συμποδισθήσεται νεανίσκος μετὰ ὁσίου καὶ εὐθεῖα ἡ ὁδὸς αὐτοῦ
