My son, do not envy evil men, nor desire to be with them.

Proverbs 24

Text size:
For their heart devises lies, and their lips speak troubles.
By wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.
By knowledge the storerooms are filled with every precious and good wealth
A wise man is better than a strong man, and a man having prudence than a great farmer.
For with guidance war is made, and help is with a counseled heart
Wisdom and good understanding are in the gates of the wise; the wise do not turn aside from the mouth of the Lord.
But they reckon in unlearned councils; death meets them.
But a fool dies in sins, and uncleanness will be defiled to a pestilent man.
In an evil day and in a day of affliction, until it fail away
Deliver those being led away to death, and redeem those being slain; do not spare.
But if you say, I do not know this man, know that the Lord knows the hearts of all, and he who formed the breath in all himself knows all, who renders to each according to his works.
Eat honey, my son, for the honeycomb is good, so that your throat may be sweetened.
Thus you will perceive wisdom for your soul, for if you find it, your end will be good, and hope will not forsake you.
Do not bring an ungodly man near the pasture of the righteous, nor be deceived by the filling of the belly.
For the righteous will fall seven times and rise again, but the ungodly will be weakened in evils.
If your enemy falls, do not rejoice over him, and in his stumbling do not exult.
For the Lord will see and it will not be pleasing to him, and he will turn his anger away from him.
Do not rejoice over evildoers, nor be envious of sinners.
For there will not be a posterity of the wicked; and the lamp of the ungodly will be put out.
Fear God, son, and king, and disobey neither of them.
For suddenly the ungodly will be punished, and who will know the punishments of both?
And these things I say to you who are wise: to show partiality in judgment is not good.
He who says to the ungodly, He is righteous, will be cursed by peoples and hated by nations.
But those who reprove will appear better, and upon them a good blessing will come
And lips will kiss, answering good words.
Prepare your works for the going out, and make ready for the field, and go after me, and you will build up your house.
Do not be a false witness against your neighbor, nor spread yourself out with your lips.
Do not say, As he dealt with me, so I will deal with him; I will avenge him for what he wronged me.
As a field a foolish man, and as a vineyard a man lacking understanding
If you let it go, it will be left fallow, and it will become overgrown with grass all over, and it becomes utterly abandoned, and the stone walls of it are torn down.
Then afterward I repented; I looked to choose instruction
A little I slumber, a little and I sleep, a little and I fold my arms over my breast.
But if you do this, your poverty will come walking in front, and your want like a good runner.
