The Koine Bible

My words, son, fear and, having received them, repent. Thus says the man to those who trust in God, and I cease.

For I am most foolish of all men, and there is no human understanding in me.

God has taught me wisdom, and the knowledge of holy things I have known

Who has ascended into heaven and descended? Who has gathered winds in a bosom? Who has wrapped up water in a garment? Who has held fast all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and what is the name of his children, so that you may know?

Every word of God is tested; and he himself shields those who reverence him.

Do not add to his words, lest he rebuke you and you become false.

Two things I ask of you; do not take away favor from me before I die.

Make vain and false speech far from me; but do not give me wealth or poverty; appoint to me the things that are needful and sufficient for me.

lest, having been filled, I become false and say, Who sees me? or, having been impoverished, I steal and swear by the name of God

Do not hand over a servant into the hands of his master, lest he curse you and you be destroyed.

There is a generation that curses its father, but does not bless its mother.

A wicked offspring judges himself righteous, but he has not washed off his departure.

A wicked generation has lofty eyes, and with his eyelids he is lifted up.

A wicked brood has teeth like swords and jaw teeth like knives, so as to consume and devour the humble from the earth and the needy from among men.

The leech had three daughters, loved with love, and these three did not satisfy her, and the fourth was not content to say, Enough.

Sheol and love of a woman, and Tartarus, and earth not being filled with water, and water and fire, will not say, It is enough

An eye that mocks a father and despises a mother’s old age—may ravens from the ravines pluck it out, and may the young of eagles devour it.

Three things there are that are too wonderful for me to understand, and the fourth I do not know.

the tracks of an eagle flying, and the paths of a snake on a rock, and the tracks of a ship crossing the sea, and the ways of a man in his youth

Such is the way of an adulterous woman, who, when she has committed [it], having washed herself, says, I have done nothing wrong.

For three things the earth trembles, but the fourth it is not able to bear.

and a maidservant when she casts out her mistress, and a hated woman when she happens upon a good man

But four are the least on the earth, and these are wiser than the wise.

The ants, who have no strength, yet prepare their food in summer

and the rock badgers, a people not strong, who made their houses in the rocks

The locust has no king, yet it goes out in orderly array at a single command.

and the lizard, grasping with its hands and being easy to seize, dwells in the fortresses of a king

There are three things that go well in their going, and the fourth that goes well across.

A lion’s whelp, stronger than beasts, which does not turn back nor is frightened by any beast

and a rooster strutting about among hens, and a goat leading a herd of goats, and a king speaking in assembly among a nation

If you have given yourself over to merriment and stretch out your hand in strife, you will be dishonored.

For as milk comes out of a cheese, and if you press the nose, blood will come out; and if you draw out words, judgments and fights will come out.
