My words have been spoken by God, a king’s oracle, which his mother taught him

What, child, will you keep? What will you say, firstborn of God? I say to you, son: what, child, of my womb? what, child, of my vows?

Do not give your wealth to women, and your mind and life to regret.

With counsel do all things; with counsel drink wine. The rulers are wrathful; but let them not drink wine.

lest, when they have drunk, they forget wisdom and are not at all able to judge rightly the weak

Give strong drink to those in sorrow, and wine to drink to those in pain

so that they may forget poverty and may no longer remember their labors anymore

Open your mouth with the word of God, and judge all soundly.

Open your mouth and judge righteously; and discern the poor and the weak.

A woman of valour who will find? And such a one is more precious than costly stones.

The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will not lack such spoils.

For she does good to her husband all the days of his life.

She has sought wool and flax, and she made it useful with her hands

She became like a merchant ship; from far away she gathers her livelihood.

And she rises from nights and gave foods to the house and tasks to the maidservants

Having considered a field, she bought it, and from the fruits of her hands she planted a possession

She girded her loins strongly, and she strengthened her arms for work

She tasted that it is good to work, and her lamp is not extinguished all the night.

She stretches out her arms to useful things, and her hands she sets to the spindle

And she opened her hands to the poor, and she stretched out fruit to the needy.

Her husband is not concerned about those in her house when he happens to be away; for all those with her are clothed.

She made double cloaks for her husband, and from fine linen and purple garments for herself

Her husband is distinguished in the gates, when he sits in council with the elders of the land

She made linen garments and sold them, and belts to the Canaanites.

She opened her mouth attentively and lawfully, and she ordered her tongue in due order

She has clothed herself with strength and dignity, and she has rejoiced in her last days.

She watches over the ways of her household, and she does not eat the bread of idleness.

She opens her mouth wisely and lawfully, and her almsgiving has raised up her children, and they became wealthy, and her husband praised her

Many daughters have acquired wealth, many have done mighty things, but you surpass and excel them all.

Deceitful are favors and vain is the beauty of a woman; for a woman of understanding is blessed, but let her praise the fear of the Lord.

Give her from the fruits of her hands, and let her husband be praised in the gates.
