Do not follow your soul and your strength to go in the desires of your heart.
and do not say, Who will dominate me? for the Lord, avenging, will avenge
Do not say, I have sinned, and what has happened to me? For the Lord is long-suffering.
Concerning atonement, do not be without fear to add sin upon sins
μὴ εἴπῃς ὁ οἰκτιρμὸς αὐτοῦ πολύς τὸ πλῆθος τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν μου ἐξιλάσεται ἔλεος γὰρ καὶ ὀργὴ παρ᾿ αὐτῷ καὶ ἐπὶ ἁμαρτωλοὺς καταπαύσει ὁ θυμὸς αὐτοῦ
And do not say, His compassion is great; the multitude of my sins will atone. For mercy and wrath are with him, and upon sinners his anger will rest.
ἀνάμενε ἐπιστρέψαι πρὸς κύριον καὶ μὴ ὑπερβάλλου ἡμέραν ἐξ ἡμέρας ἐξάπινα γὰρ ἐξελεύσεται ὀργὴ κυρίου καὶ ἐν καιρῷ ἐκδικήσεως ἐξολῇ
Do not wait to turn back to the Lord, and do not put off from day to day; for suddenly the wrath of the Lord will go out, and in the time of vengeance he will destroy you.
Do not set your heart on unjust riches, for they will not profit you in the day of visitation.
Do not be as chaff in every wind and do not go on every path; so is the sinner, the double-tongued one.
Be established in your understanding, and let your word be one.
Be quick in listening, and with patience utter an answer.
If you have understanding, answer your neighbor; but if not, let your hand be upon your mouth.
Glory and dishonor are in talk, and the tongue of a man is his fall.
κληθῇς ψίθυρος καὶ τῇ γλώσσῃ σου μὴ ἐνέδρευε ἐπὶ γὰρ τῷ κλέπτῃ ἐστὶν αἰσχύνη καὶ κατάγνωσις πονηρὰ ἐπὶ διγλώσσου
Do not be called a whisperer, and do not lie in wait with your tongue, for shame is for the thief, and evil condemnation is upon a double-tongued man.
μεγάλῳ καὶ ἐν μικρῷ μὴ ἀγνόει καὶ ἀντὶ φίλου μὴ γίνου ἐχθρός ὄνομα γὰρ πονηρὸν αἰσχύνην καὶ ὄνειδος κληρονομήσει οὕτως ὁ ἁμαρτωλὸς ὁ δίγλωσσος
Do not be ignorant in great matters and in small, and do not become an enemy instead of a friend, for an evil name will inherit shame and reproach; so is the sinner, the double-tongued one.
