Honor a physician for his services with the honors due him, for the Lord also created him

For from the Most High is healing, and from a king he will receive a gift

The skill of the physician will lift up his head, and in the presence of the great he will be admired.

The Lord created medicines out of the earth, and a prudent man will not be disgusted by them.

Was not water made sweet by wood, so that his strength might be known

And he himself gave to men knowledge to be glorified in his marvelous works

With these he treated and removed his pain; a perfumer will make a mixture with these

and his works will surely not cease, and peace from him is upon the face of the earth

My child, in your sickness do not overlook it, but pray to the Lord, and he himself will heal you.

Remove transgression and make the hands straight, and from all sin cleanse the heart

Give a sweet odor and a memorial of fine flour and fatten the offering as if not existing

And give place to the physician, for also the Lord created him, and let him not depart from you, for also of him there is need

There is a time when also in their hands is prosperity

For even they will pray to the Lord that he may grant them success, rest, and healing, for the sake of life’s grace.

The one who sins before the one who made him should fall into the hands of a physician.

My child, over the dead bring down tears, and as one suffering grievous things begin lamentation, and according to his judgment wrap his body, and do not overlook his burial.

Make bitter the weeping and warm the lamentation, and make the mourning according to his worth one day and two for the sake of slander, and be comforted on account of grief.

For from grief death comes out, and grief of heart will bend strength.

For in grievousness both sorrow and the life of a poor man remain according to heart's desire

Do not give your heart to grief; turn it away, remembering the end.

Do not forget, for there is no return, and you will not help him, and you will harm yourself.

Remember my judgment, that it was thus also yours to me yesterday and yours to me today

At the resting of a dead man, make his memorial cease, and be comforted for him at the departure of his spirit.

The wisdom of a scribe in a time of leisure, and he who is diminished in his practice will become wise.

What will he be made wise in, the one holding a plow and boasting in a goad, driving oxen and turning about in their works, and his discourse is about sons of bulls?

he will give his heart to making furrows, and his watchfulness to fodder for heifers

So every craftsman and architect, whoever passes the night as by day, those who engrave engravings of seals; and his persistence is to alter diversity; he will give his heart to make a likeness, and his wakefulness to complete a work.

So a smith sitting near an anvil and observing the works of iron: the vapor of fire will melt his flesh, and in the heat of the furnace he will contend; at the sound of the hammer he will incline his ear, and opposite the likeness of the vessel his eyes will be; he will give his heart to the completion of works, and his watchfulness to adornment for the finish.

So a potter, sitting at his work and turning the wheel with his feet, who is always anxious for his work, and all his labor is by number.

With his arm he will knead clay, and before his feet he will bend his strength; he will apply his heart to finish the anointing, and his vigilance to cleanse the furnace.

All these trusted their hands, and each one is made wise in his work.

Without them a city will not be inhabited, and they will not sojourn nor will they walk about.

but into the council of a people they will not be sought, and in an assembly they will not be raised up high; on a judge’s seat they will not sit, and they will not be concerned with a covenant of judgment

Nor will they make discipline and judgment shine out, and in parables they will not be found; but they will strengthen the creature of the age, and their petition is in the working of craft.
