Much glory the Lord created, his greatness from of old
ruling in their kingdoms, and men renowned in power, counseling in their understanding, having announced in prophecies
leaders of a people in deliberations and in understanding of writing, wise words in their discipline
seeking out musical compositions and recounting verses in writing
Men rich, furnished with strength, dwelling in peace in their homes
All these were glorified in their generations, and in their days a boast
There are some of them who left a name to recount praises
And there are some of whom there is no memorial, and they perished as though they had not existed, and they became as though not having been, and their children after them.
But these are men of mercy, whose righteousnesses have not been forgotten
With their seed a good inheritance will remain, their offspring.
Their offspring remained in the covenants, and their children because of them
Their offspring will remain forever, and their glory will not be blotted out.
Their bodies were buried in peace, and their name lives to generations.
The peoples will declare their wisdom, and the assembly will proclaim their praise.
Enoch was well pleasing to the Lord, and he was taken up, an example of repentance to the generations
Noe was found perfect, righteous; in the time of wrath he became a ransom; through him there came to be a remnant for the earth, when the flood came.
Everlasting covenants were established with him, so that all flesh would not be blotted out by a flood.
Abraham, a great father of a multitude of nations, and none was found like him in glory
who kept the law of the Most High and became in covenant with him; in his flesh he established a covenant and was found faithful in testing
Therefore by oath he established for him to bless nations in his seed, to multiply him as the dust of the earth, and to exalt his seed as the stars, and to give them inheritance from sea to sea and from the river to the end of the earth
And in Isaac he established it likewise through Abraham his father
the blessing of all men and he made a covenant to rest upon the head of Jacob; he knew him in his blessings and gave to him as an inheritance and he divided his portions among tribes, he apportioned twelve
