Mighty in war was Joshua son of Nun, and successor of Moses in prophecies, who became great according to his name for the salvation of his chosen, to take vengeance on rising enemies, so that he might inherit Israel

How he was glorified in lifting up his hands and in stretching out a sword against cities

Who before him stood thus? For he himself brought on the wars of the Lord.

Was not the sun held back by his hand, and one day became as two?

He called upon the Most High, the mighty ruler, when enemies oppressed him on every side, and the great Lord heard him, with hailstones of mighty power and strong force.

He hurled down war upon a nation, and in the descent he destroyed those who had stood against him, so that the nations might know his full armor, that his war was before the Lord

For he also followed after the mighty one, and in the days of Moses he showed mercy; he and Caleb son of Jephunneh stood before the assembly, to restrain the people from sin and to still the murmuring of wickedness.

and they themselves, being two, were saved out of six hundred thousand footmen, to bring them into an inheritance, into a land flowing with milk and honey

And the Lord gave Caleb strength, and until old age it remained with him to make him go up to the height of the land, and his seed held an inheritance

that all the sons of Israel might see that it is good to walk after the Lord

And the judges, each by his own name, of those whose heart did not play the harlot, and as many as did not turn away from the Lord, may their remembrance be in blessings.

May their bones sprout again from their place, and their name be exchanged in place of their glorified sons.

Beloved by his Lord, Samuel, a prophet of the Lord, established the kingdom and anointed rulers over his people

In the law of the Lord he judged the assembly, and the Lord visited Jacob.

By his faithfulness he was approved as a prophet, and he was known in his words as faithful in vision.

And he called upon the Lord, the ruler, when enemies were oppressing him round about, in the offering of a milk-fed lamb

And the Lord thundered from heaven, and with a great sound he made his voice heard.

And he destroyed the leaders of the Tyrians and all the rulers of the Philistines.

And before the time of the sleep of eternity he testified before the Lord and his anointed: I have not taken money even to the extent of sandals from any flesh, and no man brought an accusation against him.

And after he had fallen asleep, he prophesied and showed to the king his end, and he lifted up his voice from the earth in prophecy to blot out the lawlessness of the people.
