as fat separated from salvation, so David from the sons of Israel
Among lions he played as among kids, and among bears as among lambs of sheep.
In his youth did he not kill a giant and remove reproach from the people, when he lifted up his hand with a stone of the sling and cast down the boasting of Goliath?
For he called upon the Lord, the Most High, and he gave in his right hand might to lift up a mighty man in war, to exalt the horn of his people
Thus in myriads they glorified him, and praised him in the blessings of the Lord, when a crown of glory was being brought to him.
For he crushed enemies round about and brought the Philistines to nothing, those who opposed, until today he broke their horn
In every work of his he gave praise to the holy Most High with a word of glory; with all his heart he sang hymns and loved the one who made him
And he set singers opposite the altar, and by their sound to sweeten melodies
He gave splendor in the feasts and adorned the seasons until completion, in praising them his holy name, and from morning to resound the sanctuary
The Lord removed his sins and exalted his horn forever, and gave him a covenant of kings and a throne of glory in Israel
After him there arose a wise son, and through him he dwelt in broadness.
Solomon reigned in days of peace, in which God gave rest round about him, so that he might build a house for his name and prepare a sanctuary for eternity
How you were made wise in your youth, and you were filled like a river of understanding
You covered the land, and you filled it with parables of riddles
Your name reached far islands, and you were loved in your peace
In songs and proverbs and parables and in interpretations they marveled at you, lands
In the name of the Lord God, the God called upon as the God of Israel, you gathered gold like tin, and you multiplied silver like lead.
You bent your hips to women, and you were dominated in your body
You gave reproach in your glory, and you profaned your offspring, to bring wrath upon your children and to be pierced by your foolishness
to become apart from tyranny and from Ephraim to begin a disobedient kingdom
But the Lord will by no means abandon his mercy, and he will by no means destroy from his words, nor will he by no means blot out the offspring of his chosen one, and the seed of him who loved him he will by no means remove; and to Jacob he gave a remnant, and to David from him a root.
And Solomon rested with his fathers, and he left after him from his seed a people of folly and one diminished in understanding, Rehoboam, who turned the people away from his counsel.
and Jeroboam son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin and gave to Ephraim a way of sin, and their sins were multiplied exceedingly, to remove them from their land
and they sought out every evil until vengeance should come upon them
