Righteous are you, O Lord, and all your works, and all your ways are mercy and truth, and true and righteous judgment you judge forever
Remember me and look upon me; do not avenge me for my sins and my ignorances and those of my fathers, which they sinned before you
For they disobeyed your commandments, you gave us over to plunder and captivity and death and a proverb of reproach to all the nations among which we were scattered.
And now many are your judgments; they are true for me to do because of my sins and the sins of my fathers, because we did not do your commandments, for we did not walk in truth before you
And now, according to what is pleasing before you, do with me; command to take up my spirit, so that I may be released and become earth, because it is more profitable for me to die than to live, for I have heard false reproaches and there is much grief in me. Command me to be released from the distress already into the eternal place; do not turn your face away from me.
On that same day it happened that also the daughter of Raguel, Sarah, in Ecbatana of Media, was reproached by her father’s maidservants
because she had been given to seven men, and Asmodaus the evil demon killed them before they were with her as with wives, and they said to her, Do you not understand, you strangling your husbands? Already you have had seven, and you have not benefited from one of them.
Why do you scourge us? If they have died, go with them; may we never see your son or daughter forever.
When she heard these things, she was exceedingly grieved so as to hang herself, and she said, I am my father’s only one; if I do this, it is a disgrace to him, and I shall bring down his old age with pain to Hades.
And he prayed beside the window and said, Blessed are you, Lord my God, and blessed is your holy and honored name forever; may all your works bless you forever.
And now, Lord, I have given my eyes and my face to you.
Command that I may be released from the earth and no longer hear reproach.
You know, Lord, that I am pure from every sin of a man.
And I did not defile my name nor the name of my father in the land of my captivity; I am the only child to my father, and there is not for him any child who will inherit him, nor a near brother, nor any son belonging to him, so that I may keep myself for him as a wife; seven have already perished from me. Why is it for me to live? And if it does not seem good to you to kill me, command to look upon me and to have mercy on me, and no longer let me hear reproach.
And the prayer of both was heard before the glory of the great Raphael
And he was sent to heal the two of Tobit, to remove the white films, and Sarah daughter of Raguel to give as wife to Tobias son of Tobit, and to bind Asmodaeus the evil demon, because Tobias is appointed to inherit her. At that time Tobit returned and went into his house, and Sarah daughter of Raguel came down from her upper room.
