and gave him strength to hold sway over all things
But when an unrighteous man departed from her, he was destroyed together with murderous wrath in his anger.
through whom, when the earth was being flooded, Wisdom again saved, having steered the righteous man by means of a lowly piece of wood
It also, amid the confusion of nations united in wickedness, knew the righteous man and kept him blameless toward God, and preserved him strong in the tender affections for a child.
This one rescued a righteous man when ungodly men were being destroyed, a fugitive from the descending fire of Pentapolis
of which still a witness of wickedness, smoking, it has stood a desolation, and plants bearing fruit in untimely times, a monument of an unbelieving soul, a standing pillar of salt
For, having passed by wisdom, they not only were harmed so as not to know the good things, but also left behind for life a memorial of their foolishness, so that in the very things in which they stumbled they might not be able even to escape notice
But wisdom delivered those who serve her from labors.
This one guided a righteous man in flight from his brother’s wrath, showed him the kingdom of God in straight paths, and gave him knowledge of holy things; it prospered him in labors and multiplied his toils.
when those overpowering him acted in greed, she stood by him and made him rich
She guarded him from enemies and secured him from those lying in wait, and she awarded him a strong contest, so that he might know that godliness is more powerful than anything.
She did not abandon the righteous man when he was sold, but delivered him from sin.
It went down with him into a pit, and in chains it did not leave him until it brought him scepters of kingship and authority over his rulers, and it showed as false those who had reproached him, and it gave him eternal glory.
This delivered a holy people and blameless offspring from a nation of oppressors
She entered into the soul of a servant of the Lord and stood against dreadful kings with wonders and signs
He gave to the holy ones the reward of their labors; he guided them in a marvelous way, and he became for them a shelter by day and a flame of stars by night.
She brought them through a Red Sea and led them through much water
But their enemies he drowned, and from the depth of the abyss he brought them up boiling over.
For this reason the righteous plundered the ungodly, and they sang, O Lord, your holy name, and they praised with one accord your protecting hand.
For wisdom opened the mouth of those who are mute and made the tongues of infants clear.
