The Koine Bible

For you yourselves know, brothers, that our coming to you was not without result,

But having suffered and been insulted, as you know, in Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God with much struggle.

For our encouragement does not come from error, nor from impurity, nor from deceit,

But just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not to please people, but to please God who tests our hearts.

For we were never flattering in word, as you know, nor with a pretext of greed, God is witness,

not seeking glory from people, neither from you nor from others,

Although we were able to be burdensome as apostles of Christ, we became gentle among you, like a nurse cherishing her own children.

So, being so attached to you, we were pleased to share with you not only the gospel of God but also our own lives, because you became dear to us.

For you remember, brothers, our labor and hardship; working night and day so as not to burden any of you, we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.

You are witnesses, and God is witness, how holy and righteous and blameless we became toward you who believe.

Just as you know how, like a father, I treated each one of you as my own children.

encouraging you and comforting you and urging you to walk worthily of God who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.

And for this reason we also give thanks to God without ceasing, because when you received the word of hearing from us of God, you accepted it not as the word of men but just as it truly is, the word of God, which also works in you who believe.

For you became imitators, brothers, of the churches of God that are in Judea in Christ Jesus, because you also suffered the same things from your own countrymen as they did from the Jews.

Those who also killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and who have persecuted us, and who do not please God, and are hostile to all people,

They were hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they might be saved, in order to fill up their sins always. But the wrath has come upon them to the end.

But we, brothers, having been orphaned from you for a short time, not in heart but in appearance, have more eagerly made every effort to see your face with great desire.

For we wanted to come to you, I Paul indeed once and twice, but Satan hindered us.

For what is our hope or joy or crown of boasting— or is it not even you— before our Lord Jesus at his coming?

For you are our glory and our joy.
