Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith equal to ours in the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

As his divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness through the knowledge of the one who called us by his own glory and virtue,

Through these, precious and very great promises have been given to us, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by desire.

And for this very thing, having made every effort, supply to your faith virtue, and to virtue knowledge,

And in knowledge self-control, and in self-control endurance, and in endurance godliness,

And in godliness, brotherly affection; and in brotherly affection, love.

For having these things and increasing in them does not make you idle or unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

For the one who does not have these things is blind, short-sighted, having forgotten the cleansing of his former sins.

Therefore, brothers, be all the more eager to confirm your calling and election; for if you do these things, you will never stumble.

For in this way entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly supplied to you.

Therefore I intend always to remind you of these things, even though you know them and are established in the present truth.

But I consider it right, as long as I am in this tent, to stir you up by way of reminder,

Knowing that the putting off of my tent is imminent, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.

But I will make every effort that at all times after my departure you may remember these things.

For we did not follow cleverly invented myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

For he received honor and glory from God the Father when a voice was brought to him in this way from the majestic glory: This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased--

And this voice we heard coming from heaven while we were with him on the holy mountain.

And we have a more certain prophetic word, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.

First, know this: no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation,

For prophecy was never brought by the will of man, but men spoke from God, being carried along by the Holy Spirit.
