Therefore, be imitators of God, as beloved children,

And walk in love, just as the Messiah loved us and gave himself up for us as an offering and a sacrifice to God for a fragrant aroma.

But fornication and every impurity or greed must not even be named among you, as is proper for saints,

And obscenity and foolish talk or jesting, which are not fitting, but rather thanksgiving.

For you know this, understanding that no fornicator or unclean person or covetous person, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of the Messiah and God.

Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

Therefore do not become participants with them.

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,

For the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,

testing what is pleasing to the Lord

And do not participate in the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even expose them,

For the things done by them in secret are shameful even to mention.

But everything being exposed by the light becomes visible,

For everything that is revealed is light. Therefore he says: Awake, sleeper, and rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.

Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,

making the most of the time, because the days are evil.

Therefore do not become unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

And do not get drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,

Giving thanks always for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father,

Submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.

Wives, be subject to your own husbands as to the Lord,

For the husband is head of the wife as also the Messiah is head of the church, he himself being the Savior of the body.

But just as the church submits to the Messiah, so also the wives to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as the Messiah loved the church and gave himself up for her,

so that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with a word,

so that he might present the church to himself glorious, not having a spot or wrinkle or anything like these, but that it might be holy and without blemish.

In the same way, husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. The one who loves his own wife loves himself,

For no one ever hated their own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Messiah does the church,

because we are members of his body.

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.

This mystery is great, but I am speaking concerning Christ and the church.

However, each one of you must love his own wife as himself, and the wife must respect the husband.
