Text size:
Honor your father and your mother, which is the first commandment with a promise,
so that it may go well with you and you may live long on the earth.
And fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to the Messiah,
Not by eye-service as people-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ doing the will of God from the soul.
Serving with goodwill, as to the Lord and not to people,
Knowing that each one, whatever good he may do, this he will receive from the Lord, whether slave or free.
And you masters, do the same to them, giving up threatening, knowing that both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.
Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the power of his might.
Put on the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
For our struggle is not against blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world rulers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the evil day, and having accomplished everything, to stand firm.
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
and having your feet fitted with the readiness of the gospel of peace,
In all things taking up the shield of faith, with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
With all prayer and petition, praying at every time in the Spirit, and being watchful with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,
and also for me, so that I may be given a word in opening my mouth, with boldness to make known the mystery of the gospel
For whom I am an ambassador in chains, so that I may speak boldly as I ought to speak on his behalf.
So that you also may know about what concerns me, all things, Tychicus, the beloved brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will make known to you.
Whom I have sent to you for this purpose, that you may know about us and that he may encourage your hearts.
Peace to the brothers and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Grace be with all those loving the Lord our Jesus Christ in incorruptibility.
