Now I say, as long as the heir is a child, he does not differ at all from a slave, although he is the owner of everything,

but he is under guardians and stewards until the time set by the father.
So also we, when we were children, were enslaved under the elemental spirits of the world.
But when the fullness of the time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law,
so that he might redeem those under the law, in order that we might receive adoption as sons.
Because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
So you are no longer a slave but a son; and if a son, then also an heir through God.
But at that time, not knowing God, you served gods that by nature are not gods.
νῦν δὲ γνόντες θεόν, μᾶλλον δὲ γνωσθέντες ὑπὸ θεοῦ, πῶς ἐπιστρέφετε πάλιν ἐπὶ τὰ ἀσθενῆ καὶ πτωχὰ στοιχεῖα, οἷς πάλιν ἄνωθεν δουλεύειν θέλετε;
But now that you have come to know God, or rather have been known by God, how do you turn back again to the weak and poor elemental things, to which you want to be enslaved once more?
You observe days and months and seasons and years.
I am afraid that I may have labored for you in vain.
Become like me, because I also am like you, brothers; I ask you. You have wronged me in nothing.
But you know that because of a weakness of the flesh I preached the gospel to you previously,
And you did not despise or reject the trial in my flesh, but you received me as an angel of God, as Christ Jesus.
Where then is your blessing? For I testify to you that if it were possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
They are zealous for you, but not well; rather, they want to exclude you so that you may be zealous for them.
It is good to be zealous in a good thing always, and not only when I am present with you,
My children, whom I am again laboring in birth until Christ is formed in you.
I wish to be present with you now and to change my tone, because I am perplexed about you.
Tell me, you who want to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one from the slave woman and one from the free woman.
But the one born according to the flesh is from the slave woman, and the one from the free woman is through promise.
which are allegorized; for these are two covenants, one indeed from Mount Sinai, bearing children into slavery, which is Hagar,
But Mount Sinai is in Arabia and corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for it is in slavery with its children.
But the Jerusalem above is free, which is our mother.
For it is written: Rejoice, barren woman who does not bear; break forth and shout, you who do not labor with child; because many more are the children of the desolate than of the one having a husband.
But you, brothers, are children of the promise according to Isaac.
But just as the one born according to the flesh persecuted the one according to the spirit then, so also now.
But what does the Scripture say? Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not inherit with the son of the free woman.
Therefore, brothers, we are not children of a slave woman but of the free woman.
