Now Jesus came to Bethany six days before the Passover, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus had raised from the dead.

So they made a dinner for him there, and Martha was serving, but Lazarus was one of those reclining with him.

Therefore Mary, having taken a pound of costly pure nard, anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

But Judas Iscariot, one of his disciples, the one who was about to betray him, said,

Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?

He said this not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief and, having the money box, he used to take what was put in.

Jesus therefore said, Leave her alone, so that she may keep it for the day of my burial.

For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.

A large crowd of Jews therefore knew that he was there, and they came not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus whom he had raised from the dead.

But the chief priests planned to kill Lazarus also,

Because many of the Jews were going away through him and were believing in Jesus.

The next day a large crowd that had come to the festival, having heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem,

They took the palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, Hosanna, blessed is the one coming in the name of the Lord, and the king of Israel.

Jesus, having found a donkey, sat on it, just as it is written.

Do not be afraid, daughter of Zion; behold, your king is coming, sitting on a colt of a donkey.

At first, his disciples did not understand these things, but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about him, and that they had done these things to him.

Therefore the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead was testifying.

For this reason the crowd also met him because they heard that he had done this sign.

Therefore the Pharisees said to themselves, Do you see that you gain nothing? Look, the world has gone after him.

Now there were some Greeks among those going up to worship at the festival.

Therefore these came to Philip who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and they asked him, saying, Lord, we want to see Jesus.

Philip comes and says to Andrew. Andrew and Philip come and say to Jesus.

Jesus answered them, saying, The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Truly, truly I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.

The one who loves his soul destroys it, and the one who hates his soul in this world will keep it for eternal life.

If anyone serves me, let him follow me, and where I am, there also will my servant be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.

Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this purpose I have come to this hour.

Father, glorify your name. Then a voice came from heaven: I have glorified it and I will glorify it again.

The crowd standing there, having heard, said that thunder had occurred; others said that an angel had spoken to him.

Jesus answered and said, This voice did not come for me, but for you.

Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.

And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all to myself.

And he said this, indicating by what kind of death he was about to die.

The crowd answered him, We have heard from the law that the Messiah remains forever, and how do you say that the Son of Man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of Man?

Jesus therefore said to them, The light is still with you for a little time. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness may not overtake you. And the one walking in the darkness does not know where he is going.

While you have the light, believe in the light, so that you may become children of light. Jesus said these things, and going away, he hid himself from them.

Although he had performed so many signs before them, they did not believe in him.

so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said: Lord, who has believed our report? and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?

Therefore they were not able to believe, because again Isaiah said,

He has blinded their eyes and hardened their heart, so that they may not see with their eyes and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.

Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory and spoke about him.

Yet many even of the rulers believed in him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they would not be put out of the synagogue.

For they loved the glory of people more than the glory of God.

Jesus cried out and said, The one believing in me does not believe in me but in the one who sent me,

And the one who sees me sees the one who sent me.

I have come as light into the world so that everyone who believes in me may not remain in the darkness.

And if anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I do not judge him, for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.

The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has the one who judges him; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

For I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has given me a command about what to say and what to speak.

And I know that his command is eternal life. Therefore, what I speak, just as the Father has told me, so I speak.
