After these things the Lord also appointed seventy-two others and sent them out two by two ahead of him into every city and place where he himself was about to go.

He said to them, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.

Go; behold, I send you out as lambs in the midst of wolves.

Do not take a money bag, nor a bag, nor sandals, and do not greet anyone on the road.

Into whatever house you enter first say, Peace to this house.

And if there is a son of peace there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.

Stay in that house, eating and drinking what they provide, for the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move from house to house.

And into whatever city you enter and they receive you, eat the things set before you,

And heal the sick in it, and say to them, The kingdom of God has come near to you.

But into whatever city you enter and they do not receive you, going out into its streets say,

And the dust that clings to us from your city we wipe off against you; but know this, that the kingdom of God has come near.

I tell you that on that day it will be more bearable for Sodom than for that city.

Woe to you, Chorazin; woe to you, Bethsaida; because if the powers that were done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

But to Tyre and Sidon it will be more tolerable in the judgment than to you.

And you, Capernaum, will you not be exalted to heaven? You will be brought down to Hades.

The one who listens to you listens to me, and the one who rejects you rejects me; but the one who rejects me rejects the one who sent me.

The seventy-two returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.

He said to them, I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.

Behold, I have given you authority to tread on snakes and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will harm you.

But do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you; rejoice rather that your names are written in the heavens.

At that hour the Holy Spirit rejoiced and said, I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent, and revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure before you.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father, nor who the Father is except the Son and the one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.

And turning to the disciples privately, he said, Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.

For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see and did not see it, and to hear what you hear and did not hear it.

And behold, a certain lawyer stood up, testing him, saying, Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

He said to him, What is written in the law? How do you read it?

But he answered, You will love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.

He said to him, You have answered correctly; do this and you will live.

But the one wanting to justify himself said to Jesus, And who is my neighbor?

But Jesus, taking it up, said: A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and went away leaving him half dead.

Now a certain priest happened to be going down that road, and when he saw him, he passed by on the other side.

Likewise, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.

But a certain Samaritan, traveling, came near him, and seeing him, he had compassion,

And coming near, he bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and having put him on his own animal, he brought him to an inn and took care of him.

And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper and said, Take care of him, and whatever you spend beyond this, I will repay you when I return.

Which of these three do you think became a neighbor to the one who fell among the robbers?

He said, The one who showed mercy to him. Jesus said to him, Go and do likewise.

As they were going on their way, he entered a certain village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him.

And there was a sister called Mary, who, sitting beside the feet of Jesus, was listening to his word.

But Martha was distracted with much serving. And standing, she said, Lord, does it not concern you that my sister has left me alone to serve? Therefore, tell her to help me.

But the Lord answered her, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,

Only one thing is necessary or needed. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.
