At that time some people came to him and reported about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices.

And answering, he said to them, Do you think that these Galileans were sinners more than all the Galileans because they suffered these things?

No, I tell you, but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.

Or those eighteen on whom the tower in Siloam fell and killed them, do you think that they became debtors beyond all the people living in Jerusalem?

No, I tell you, but unless you repent, all of you will likewise perish.

He was telling this parable. A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and did not find any.

And he said to the vineyard keeper, Look, for three years I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree and I do not find any; cut it down, why also should it exhaust the soil?

But he answered and said to him, Lord, leave it also this year until I dig around it and put manure on it.

And if it should produce fruit in the future—if not, you will cut it down.

And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbaths.

And behold, a woman having a spirit of weakness for eighteen years, and she was bent over and not able to straighten up at all.

And Jesus, seeing her, called to her and said, Woman, you are freed from your weakness,

And he laid his hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and she glorified God.

But the synagogue leader, answering and being indignant that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, Six days there are in which one must work; therefore come on those days and be healed, and not on the day of the Sabbath.

And the Lord answered him and said, Hypocrites, does not each of you on the Sabbath untie his ox or his donkey from the manger and lead it away to give it water?

This daughter of Abraham, whom Satan bound for eighteen years, should she not have been freed from this bond on the Sabbath day?

And as he was saying these things, all who opposed him were put to shame, and the whole crowd was glad about all the glorious things happening through him.

He was saying therefore, To what is the kingdom of God like, and to what shall I compare it?

It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the sky nested in its branches.

And again he said, To what shall I compare the kingdom of God?

It is like yeast, which a woman took and hid in three measures of flour until the whole was leavened.

And he was going through cities and villages, teaching and making his way to Jerusalem.

And someone said to him, Lord, are those being saved few? And he said to them,

Strive to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able.

After the master of the house has risen and shut the door, you will begin to stand outside and knock on the door, saying, Lord, open to us. And he will answer and say to you, I do not know where you are from.

Then you will begin to say, We ate in your presence and drank, and you taught in our streets.

And he will say to you, I do not know where you are from; depart from me, all you workers of lawlessness.

There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves thrown out.

And people will come from east and west and from north and south and will recline at the table in the kingdom of God.

And behold, there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.

At that hour some Pharisees came to him, saying, Go away and leave here, because Herod wants to kill you.

And he said to them, Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out demons and perform healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I am completed.

But it is necessary for me to go today and tomorrow and on the next day, because it is not possible for a prophet to be killed outside Jerusalem.

Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her—how often I wanted to gather your children as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were unwilling.

Behold, your house is left to you. But I say to you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say, Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.
