He was telling them a parable that they must always pray and not lose heart,

Saying, there was a judge in a certain city who did not fear God and did not respect man.

There was a widow in that city who kept coming to him, saying, Vindicate me against my opponent.

and he was unwilling for a time, but afterward he said within himself, Even if I do not fear God nor respect man,

Because I have no desire to wear out this widow by continually delaying her, I will give her justice so that she does not keep coming and wear me out.

And the Lord said, Listen to what the unjust judge says.

And will not God bring about justice for his elect who cry out to him day and night, and will he be patient with them?

I tell you that he will quickly bring about their vindication. But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?

And he also said to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and were despising the others this parable.

Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed these things: God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

I fast twice a week, I give a tenth of all I acquire.

But the tax collector, standing far off, was not willing even to lift up his eyes to heaven, but was beating his chest, saying, God, be merciful to me, the sinner.

I tell you, this one went down to his house justified rather than that one; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.

And they were also bringing infants to him so that he might touch them, but when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

But Jesus called them to him, saying, Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.

And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Teacher, good one, what must I do to inherit eternal life?

And Jesus said to him, Why do you call me good? No one is good except one, God.

You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and your mother.

He said, I have kept all these from my youth.

But Jesus, having heard, said to him, One thing still is lacking for you; sell all that you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in the heavens, and come, follow me.

But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

Jesus, seeing him, said, How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter the kingdom of God.

For it is easier for a camel to enter through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God.

Those who heard said, And who is able to be saved?

But he said, What is impossible with men is possible with God.

And Peter said, Behold, we have left our own things and followed you.

And he said to them, Truly I say to you, no one is who has left house or wife or brothers or parents or children because of the kingdom of God,

Who will not receive many times more in this age and in the age to come eternal life.

Taking the twelve, he said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all that is written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.

For he will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spat upon,

And after they have flogged him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.

And they did not understand any of these things, and this word was hidden from them, and they did not know what was being said.

As he was approaching Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.

And hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this was.

They reported to him that Jesus the Nazarene was passing by.

And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me.

And those who were leading on rebuked him to be silent; but he cried out all the more, Son of David, have mercy on me.

And Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to him. When he came near, he asked him,

What do you want me to do for you? He said, Lord, that I may receive sight.

And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight; your faith has saved you.

And immediately he regained his sight and followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
