And entering, he was passing through Jericho.

And behold, a man named Zacchaeus, and he himself was a chief tax collector and he himself was rich.

And he was seeking to see Jesus who he was, and he was not able because of the crowd, for he was small in stature.

And running ahead to the front, he climbed up into a sycamore tree in order to see him, because he was about to pass through that place.

And when he came to the place, Jesus looked up and said to him, Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for today I must stay at your house.

And he hurried down and received him joyfully.

And when all saw it, they grumbled, saying that he had gone in to lodge with a sinful man.

But Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, Behold, half of my possessions, Lord, I give to the poor, and if I have defrauded anyone of anything, I restore four times as much.

And Jesus said to him, Today salvation has come to this house, because he also is a son of Abraham.

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

Now while they were listening to these things, he added a parable because he was near Jerusalem and they thought that the kingdom of God was about to appear immediately.

Therefore he said, A certain nobleman went to a distant country to receive a kingdom for himself and to return.

Calling ten of his slaves, he gave them ten minas and said to them, Trade until I come.

But his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him, saying, We do not want this one to reign over us.

And it happened when he returned to receive the kingdom, he ordered these servants to be called to him, to find out what they had gained by trading.

And the first came, saying, Lord, your mina has earned ten minas.

And he said to him, Well done, good servant, because you have been faithful in a very little, be ruler over ten cities.

And the second came, saying, Your mina, Lord, has made five minas.

And he said to this one also, You, go on to be over five cities.

And the other came, saying, Lord, here is your mina, which I kept laid away in a handkerchief.

For I was afraid of you because you are a strict man; you take up what you did not lay down and reap what you did not sow.

He says to him, I judge you by your own words, wicked servant. Did you know that I am a severe man, collecting what I did not put in and harvesting what I did not sow?

And why did you not put my money on deposit, so that when I came I might have collected it with interest?

And he said to those standing by, Remove the mina from him and give it to the one who has the ten minas—

And they said to him, Lord, he has ten minas—

I tell you that to everyone who has will be given, but from the one who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.

But bring here those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them, and slaughter them before me.

And having said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.

And it happened as he approached Bethphage and Bethany, near the mountain called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of the disciples

Saying, Go into the village opposite, where as you enter you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it here.

And if anyone asks you, Why are you untying? thus you shall say, Because the Lord has need of him.

And the ones sent went and found just as he had told them.

And as they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, Why are you untying the colt?

But they said, The Lord has need of it.

And they brought it to Jesus, and after throwing their garments on the colt, they placed Jesus on it.

As he was going, they were spreading their garments on the road.

And as he was already approaching the descent of the Mount of Olives, all the crowd of disciples began to rejoice, praising God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

saying, Blessed is the one who comes, king, in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest places.

And some of the Pharisees from the crowd said to him, Teacher, rebuke your disciples.

And answering, he said: I tell you that if these become silent, the stones will cry out.

And as he approached, seeing the city, he wept over it,

saying, If you had known on this day even you the things that make for peace—but now they are hidden from your eyes.

For days will come upon you, and your enemies will set up ramparts against you, and will surround you and close you in on every side,

and they will level you and your children within you, and they will not leave one stone upon another in you, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation.

And entering into the temple, he began to drive out those selling,

saying to them, It is written, My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers.

And he was teaching daily in the temple, but the chief priests and the scribes were seeking to destroy him, and the leaders of the people,

And they could not find what they might do, for all the people were hanging on him listening.
