And the scribes and the chief priests sought to lay hands on him at that hour, but they feared the people, for they understood that he had spoken this parable against them.

And having observed, they sent spies pretending to be righteous themselves, in order to catch him in speech, so that they might deliver him to the authority and the power of the governor.
