And standing up, all their crowd led him to Pilate.

And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to give taxes to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Messiah, a king.

Pilate asked him, Are you the king of the Jews? He answered him, You say so.

But Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, I find no guilt in this man.

But they insisted, saying that he stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee even to here.

But Pilate, having heard, asked if the man was a Galilean,

And knowing that he was sent from the authority of Herod, he sent him back to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.

But Herod, seeing Jesus, was very glad, for he had wanted to see him for a long time because of hearing about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him.

And he questioned him with many words, but he answered him nothing.

But the chief priests and the scribes stood and accused him vehemently.

And Herod, with his soldiers, also despised him and mocked him, and having put a splendid garment on him, sent him back to Pilate.

Now Herod and Pilate became friends with each other on that day, for they had previously been enemies.

But Pilate, having called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

He said to them, You brought this man to me as one who turns away the people, and behold, having examined him before you, I found nothing in this man deserving of the charges you bring against him.

But not even Herod, for he sent him back to us; and behold, nothing worthy of death has been done by him.

Therefore, after punishing him, I will release him.

And they shouted all together, saying, Release this one for us, and release Barabbas to us.

who was thrown into prison for an insurrection that had occurred in the city and for murder.

But Pilate again called out, wanting to release Jesus.

But they kept shouting, Crucify, crucify him.

But the third said to them, Why, what evil has this man done? I found no cause of death in him; therefore, after punishing him, I will release him.

But they kept shouting loudly, demanding that he be crucified, and their voices prevailed.

And Pilate decided to grant their request.

He released the one who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, whom they were asking for, but he handed Jesus over to their will.

And as they led him away, they seized a certain Simon of Cyrene, coming in from the countryside, and laid the cross on him to carry behind Jesus.

A large crowd of the people followed him, and women who were mourning and lamenting him.

But Jesus turned to them and said, Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; but weep for yourselves and for your children,

For behold, days are coming in which they will say, Blessed are the barren and the wombs that did not bear and the breasts that did not nurse.

Then they will begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us, and to the hills, Cover us.

For if they do these things in the green wood, what will happen in the dry?

And also two other criminals were being led with him to be executed.

And when they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him and the criminals, one on the right and one on the left.

But Jesus said, Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing. And dividing his clothes, they cast lots.

And the crowd stood watching. And the rulers also were mocking, saying, He saved others; let him save himself if this is the Christ of God, the chosen one.

And the soldiers also mocked him, coming up and offering him vinegar.

And they were saying, If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself.

And there was also an inscription on him: This is the King of the Jews.

One of the criminals hanging there was blaspheming him, saying, Are you not the Messiah? Save yourself and us.

But the other, rebuking him, said, Do you not fear God, since you are under the same judgment?

And we indeed justly, for we are receiving what we deserved for what we did; but this one has done nothing wrong.

And he was saying, Jesus, remember me when you come in your kingdom.

And he said to him, Amen I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.

And it was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole earth until the ninth hour.

When the sun had gone dark, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

And Jesus, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. Having said this, he breathed his last.

Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, Truly this man was righteous.

And all the crowds who had come together for this sight, having seen what had happened, were beating their chests and turning away.

All his acquaintances stood at a distance, and the women who had followed him from Galilee were watching these things.

And behold, a man named Joseph, a council member, existing, a good and just man—

This man was not consenting to their plan and action—he was from the city of Arimathea of the Jews, who was awaiting the kingdom of God,

This man, having come to Pilate, asked for the body of Jesus,

And having taken it down, he wrapped it in a linen cloth and laid it in a carved tomb where no one had yet been laid.

And it was the day of Preparation, and the Sabbath was beginning to dawn.

But the women who had followed were those who had come with him from Galilee, and they saw the tomb and how his body was laid.

Then having returned, they prepared spices and ointments. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment,
