And they came to the other side of the sea into the region of the Gerasenes.

And when he had come out of the boat, immediately a man met him from the tombs who was in an unclean spirit,

who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no one was able to bind him anymore, not even with chains

Because of this, he was often bound with chains and shackles, and the chains and shackles were torn apart by him, and no one was able to subdue him.

And night and day, he was in the tombs and on the mountains, crying out and cutting himself with stones.

And seeing Jesus from a distance, he ran and worshiped him,

And crying out with a loud voice he said, What have I to do with you, Jesus, Son of the God Most High? I adjure you by God, do not torment me.

For he was saying to him, Come out, unclean spirit, from the man.

And he asked him, What is your name? And he said to him, Legion is my name, because we are many.

And he begged him many times not to send them out of the region.

And there was there near the mountain a large herd of pigs feeding.

And they begged him, saying, Send us into the pigs, so that we may enter into them.

And he permitted them. And the unclean spirits went out and entered into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the sea, about two thousand, and they drowned in the sea.

And those who were tending them fled and reported it in the city and in the countryside, and they came to see what had happened.

And they come to Jesus, and they see the man who had the demon, sitting clothed and in his right mind, the one who had the legion, and they were afraid.

And those who saw how it happened to the demon-possessed man reported it to them, and about the pigs.

And they began to beg him to depart from their region.

And as he was getting into the boat, the one who had been demon-possessed begged him to be with him.

And he did not permit him, but said to him, Go to your home to your own people, and report to them how much the Lord has done for you and has had mercy on you.

And he went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis what Jesus had done for him, and all were amazed.

And when Jesus had crossed again by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around him, and he was by the sea.

And one of the synagogue leaders, named Jairus, came and, seeing him, fell at his feet.

And he kept urging him greatly, saying, My daughter is at the point of death; come and lay your hands on her so that she may be saved and live.

And he went away with him. And a large crowd followed him, and they pressed against him.

And a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years

and having suffered much under many physicians and having spent all that she had and having been helped by no one but rather having grown worse,

Having heard about Jesus, she came up behind in the crowd and touched his garment.

For she was saying, If I touch even his clothes, I will be saved.

And immediately the source of her blood was dried up, and she knew in her body that she was healed from the affliction.

And immediately Jesus, perceiving in himself the power that had gone out from him, turned around in the crowd and said, Who touched my clothes?

And his disciples said to him, You see the crowd pressing against you, and you say, Who touched me?

And he looked around to see the one who had done this.

But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before him and told him the whole truth.

But he said to her, Daughter, your faith has saved you; go in peace, and be healthy from your suffering.

While he was still speaking, some came from the synagogue leader saying, Your daughter has died; why do you still trouble the teacher?

But Jesus, having overheard the word spoken, said to the synagogue leader, Do not fear, only believe.

And he did not allow anyone to follow with him except Peter and James and John, the brother of James.

And they come into the house of the synagogue leader, and see a commotion and many people crying and wailing,

And entering, he said to them, Why are you troubled and weeping? The child has not died but is sleeping.

And he laughed at him. But he, having sent everyone out, took the child's father and mother and those with him, and entered where the child was.

And taking the child by the hand, he said to her, Talitha koum, which is translated, Little girl, I say to you, arise.

And immediately the girl stood up and walked, for she was twelve years old. And they were immediately amazed with great amazement.

And he strictly ordered them that no one should know this, and said that it should be given to her to eat.
