And he said to them, Amen I say to you that there are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God having come with power.

And after six days Jesus took Peter and James and John with him, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,

And his clothes became dazzlingly white, such as no fuller on earth can whiten them.

And Elijah appeared to them together with Moses, and they were speaking with Jesus.

And Peter answered Jesus, Rabbi, it is good for us to be here, and let us make three tents, one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.

For they did not know what to answer, for they became afraid.

And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud: This is my beloved Son; listen to him.

And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone except Jesus alone with them.

And as they were coming down from the mountain, he commanded them not to tell anyone what they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

And they kept the word to themselves, discussing what it means to rise from the dead.

And they were asking him, saying, Because the scribes say that Elijah must come first?

But he said to them, Elijah indeed comes first and restores all things, and how is it written concerning the Son of Man that he must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

But I say to you that Elijah has also come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.

And when they came to the disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and scribes arguing with them.

And immediately all the crowd, seeing him, were amazed, and running up, they greeted him.

And he asked them, What are you discussing among yourselves?

And one from the crowd answered him, Teacher, I brought my son to you, having a spirit that makes him mute.

And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. And I told your disciples to cast it out, but they were not able.

But he answered them, You unbelieving generation, how long will I be with you? How long will I endure you? Bring him to me.

And they brought him to him. And when he saw him, the spirit immediately convulsed him, and he fell on the ground and rolled around foaming.

And he asked his father, How long has this been happening to him? And he said, From childhood.

and often he has thrown him into fire and into water to destroy him; but if you can do anything, help us, having had compassion on us.

Jesus said to him, If you are able, all things are possible to the one believing.

Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, I believe; help my unbelief.

And Jesus, seeing that a crowd was running together, rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.

And crying out and convulsing greatly, he came out; and he became as if dead, so that many said that he had died.

But Jesus, taking him by the hand, raised him up, and he stood.

And when he entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why were we not able to cast it out?

And he said to them, This kind cannot come out by any means except by prayer.

And from there, having gone out, they were traveling through Galilee, and he did not want anyone to know.

For he was teaching his disciples and saying to them that the Son of Man is being delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him, and having been killed, after three days he will rise.

But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him.

And they came to Capernaum. And having entered the house, he asked them, What were you discussing on the way?

But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest.

And sitting down, he called the twelve and said to them, If anyone wants to be first, he will be last of all and servant of all.

And taking a child, he stood it in the middle of them and, embracing it, said to them,

Whoever receives one of these children in my name receives me, and whoever receives me does not receive me but the one who sent me.

John said to him, Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us.

But Jesus said, Do not stop him, for no one who does a miracle in my name will be able quickly to speak evil of me.

For whoever is not against us is for us.

For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink in the name because you belong to Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.

And whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to stumble, it is better for him if a donkey millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.

And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled than, having two hands, to go into Gehenna, into the unquenchable fire.

And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into Gehenna.

And if your eye causes you to stumble, throw it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into Gehenna,

where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.

For everyone will be salted with fire.

Salt is good; but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.
