And getting into a boat, he crossed over and came into his own city.

And behold, they were bringing to him a paralytic lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Take courage, child; your sins are forgiven.

And behold, some of the scribes said in their hearts, This one blasphemes.

And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

For which is easier, to say, Your sins are forgiven, or to say, Get up and walk?

But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins—he then says to the paralytic, Get up, take your bed, and go to your house.

And rising up he went to his house.

When the crowds saw this, they were afraid and glorified God who had given such authority to men.

And passing by there, Jesus saw a man sitting at the tax booth, called Matthew, and he said to him, Follow me. And rising, he followed him.

And it happened that while he was reclining in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and reclined with Jesus and his disciples.

And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to his disciples, Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?

But hearing this, he said, Those who are strong do not have need of a doctor, but those who are ill.

But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast often, but your disciples do not fast?

And Jesus said to them, The sons of the wedding feast cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them; but days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

No one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, and a worse tear results.

No one puts new wine into old wineskins; otherwise, the wineskins burst, the wine spills out, and the wineskins are destroyed. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.

While he was saying these things to them, behold, a ruler came and bowed down to him, saying, My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.

And Jesus got up and followed him, and his disciples.

And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a flow of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment.

For she was saying to herself, If only I touch his garment, I will be saved.

But Jesus, turning and seeing her, said, Take courage, daughter; your faith has saved you. And the woman was saved from that hour.

And Jesus came into the house of the ruler and saw the flute players and the crowd making a commotion.

He said, Depart, for the girl has not died but is sleeping; and they laughed at him.

But when the crowd was sent out, he entered and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

And this report went out into all that land.

And as Jesus was passing by, two blind men followed him, crying out and saying, Have mercy on us, Son of David.

When he entered the house, the blind men came to him, and Jesus said to them, Do you believe that I am able to do this? They said to him, Yes, Lord.

Then he touched their eyes, saying, According to your faith let it be done to you.

And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly charged them, saying, Let no one know.

But when they went out, they spread the report about him throughout all that land.

As they were going out, behold, they brought to him a man who was mute and demon-possessed.

And when the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, Never has anything like this appeared in Israel.

But the Pharisees said, He casts out demons by the ruler of the demons.

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every sickness.

But seeing the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

Then he says to his disciples, The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the workers are few.

Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest.
