Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in endurance.
Πρεσβύτιδας ὡσαύτως ἐν καταστήματι ἱεροπρεπεῖς, μὴ διαβόλους μηδὲ οἴνῳ πολλῷ δεδουλωμένας, καλοδιδασκάλους,
Older women likewise in behavior worthy of holiness, not slanderers nor enslaved to much wine, teachers of what is good,
so that they may train the young women to be self-controlled, loving their husbands, loving their children,
σώφρονας, ἁγνάς, οἰκουργούς, ἀγαθάς, ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν, ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ θεοῦ βλασφημῆται.
sensible, pure, workers at home, good, submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God may not be blasphemed.
Encourage the younger men to be self-controlled in the same way.
In everything show yourself to be a pattern of good works, in teaching showing integrity and dignity,
A sound and blameless word, so that the one opposing may be ashamed, having nothing bad to say about us.
Slaves, be submissive to your own masters in everything, being pleasing, not answering back,
μὴ νοσφιζομένους, ἀλλὰ πᾶσαν πίστιν ἐνδεικνυμένους ἀγαθήν, ἵνα τὴν διδασκαλίαν τὴν τοῦ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν θεοῦ κοσμῶσιν ἐν πᾶσιν.
not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that the teaching of our Savior God may be adorned in everything.
For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.
παιδεύουσα ἡμᾶς, ἵνα ἀρνησάμενοι τὴν ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας σωφρόνως καὶ δικαίως καὶ εὐσεβῶς ζήσωμεν ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι,
training us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,
προσδεχόμενοι τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου θεοῦ καὶ σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ,
waiting for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of the great God and Savior of us Jesus Christ,
ὃς ἔδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἵνα λυτρώσηται ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνομίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἑαυτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον, ζηλωτὴν καλῶν ἔργων.
who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to cleanse for himself a people belonging to him, zealous for good works.
Say these things, exhort, and reprove with all authority. Let no one disregard you.
