And the word of the Lord came to me, saying

Son of man, testify to Jerusalem her lawless deeds.

And you shall say, Thus says the Lord to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are from the land of Canaan; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

And your birth, on the day in which you were born, they did not bind your breasts, and you were not washed in water, nor were you rubbed with salt, and you were not wrapped in swaddling cloths.

Neither did my eye spare you, to do to you one of all these, to have you suffer anything because of you; and you were cast out upon the face of the field because of the crookedness of your soul, in which day you were born

And I passed by you and saw you smeared in your blood, and I said to you, In your blood, live.

Grow numerous, as the springing up of the field I have given you; and you multiplied and became great and entered into cities of cities. Your breasts were formed, and your hair sprouted; but you were naked and shameful.

And I passed by you and saw you, and behold, your time was a time of those being destroyed, and I spread my wings over you and covered your disgrace, and I swore to you and entered into a covenant with you, says the Lord, and you became mine

And I washed you with water and I washed your blood off from you and I anointed you with oil

And I clothed you with embroidered work and I bound you with hyacinth and I girded you with fine linen and I wrapped you with woven haircloth

And I adorned you with ornaments and placed bracelets around your hands and a necklace around your neck

And I gave a nose-ring around your nostril, and earrings on your ears, and a crown of boasting on your head

And you were adorned with gold and silver, and your wrappings were fine linen and embroidered things, fine flour and oil and honey you ate, and you became very beautiful.

And your name went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was complete in comeliness, in the beauty that I had put upon you, says the Lord

And you trusted in your beauty, and you fornicated because of your name, and you poured out your fornication on every passerby, which will not be.

And you took from your garments and made for yourself sewn idols, and you prostituted yourself upon them; and you shall by no means come in, nor shall it by no means happen.

And you took the vessels of your boasting from my gold and from my silver, from which I gave to you, and you made for yourself male images, and you played the harlot with them.

And you took your multicolored clothing and clothed them, and my oil and my incense you set before them

And my bread, which I gave you, fine flour and oil and honey, I fed you with them; and you set them before them as a smell of sweet savor, and it happened, says the Lord.

And you took your sons and your daughters whom you bore and sacrificed them to them for consumption; you prostituted yourself beyond little.

And you slaughtered your children and gave them, in your being abhorred by them.

And besides all your fornication, you did not remember the days of your infancy, when you were naked and shameful and defiled in your blood, you lived.

And it came to pass, after all your evils, says the Lord.

and you built for yourself a harlot’s house, and you made for yourself a public place in every square

And at the head of every way you built your harlotries and defiled your beauty, and you spread your legs to every passerby and multiplied your harlotry.

And you prostituted yourself with the sons of Egypt, your neighbors, the great in flesh, and you prostituted yourself in many ways to provoke me to anger

but if I stretch out my hand against you and take away your statutes and give you into the souls of those hating you, the daughters of foreigners, those turning you aside from your way in which you acted impiously

And you played the harlot with the daughters of Asshur, and even so you were not satisfied; and you played the harlot, and you were not filled

And you multiplied your covenants toward the land of the Chaldeans, and even in these you were not satisfied.

How shall I deal with your daughter, says the Lord, in that you do all these things, the works of a prostitute woman, and you have prostituted yourself threefold

You built your prostitution in your daughters, at every head of a way; and you made your base in every broad place, and you became like a prostitute gathering wages.

The adulterous woman is like you, taking wages from her husband.

To all those who had prostituted her she gave fees; and you yourself gave fees to all your lovers, and you burdened them to come to you from all around in your prostitution.

And there has happened in you what is contrary to the women in your harlotry, and with you they have committed harlotry in your giving wages, and wages were not given to you, and there has happened in you what is contrary to nature

Therefore, prostitute, hear the word of the Lord.

Thus says the Lord: because you have poured out your bronze, and your shame shall be uncovered in your prostitution to your lovers, and in all the thoughts of your lawlessness, and in the bloods of your children, whom you gave to them.

Therefore, behold, I am gathering against you all your lovers with whom you mixed, and all whom you loved, together with all whom you hated, and I will gather them against you from all around, and I will uncover your wickednesses before them, and they will see all your shame.

And I will execute judgment on you with the judgment of an adulteress and of one shedding blood, and I will set you in blood of wrath and jealousy.

And I will deliver you into their hands, and they will tear down your brothel and will break down your base, and they will strip you of your clothing and will take the vessels of your boasting, and they will leave you naked and dishonored

And they shall bring crowds against you, and they shall stone you with stones, and they shall slay you with their swords.

And they shall burn your houses with fire and shall do judgments on you before many women, and I will turn you away from your prostitution, and you shall no longer give hire.

And I will let my wrath rest upon you, and my jealousy will depart from you, and I will rest, and I will no longer be anxious any more

because you did not remember the day of your infancy and you grieved me in all these things, and I, behold, have given your ways upon your head, says the Lord, and so you have done impiety on top of all your lawlessnesses

These are all the things they said against you in a proverb, saying, As the mother, so the daughter.

You are the daughter of your mother, who cast away her husband and her children, and sister of your sisters, who cast away their husbands and their children; your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.

Your older sister is Samaria, she and her daughters, the one dwelling on your left; and your younger sister, the one dwelling on your right, is Sodom and her daughters

And not even as in their ways did you walk, nor according to their lawless deeds did you do, but a little, and you surpassed them in all your ways

As I live, says the Lord, surely Sodom your sister has not done, she and her daughters, in the way that you and your daughters have done.

Nevertheless, this was the lawlessness of Sodom your sister: pride in fullness of bread and in prosperity of wine; she and her daughters lived luxuriously. This was in her and in her daughters, and they did not help the hand of the poor and needy.

And they were arrogant and they committed lawless deeds before me, and I removed them as I saw.

And Samaria did not sin according to half of your sins, and you multiplied your lawlessnesses beyond them, and you justified your sisters in all your lawlessnesses which you did.

And you, bear your torment, in that you corrupted your sisters by your sins in which you acted lawlessly beyond them, and you justified them beyond yourself; and you be ashamed, and take your dishonor, in your justifying your sisters.

And I will restore their fortunes, the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters, and I will restore the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and I will restore your fortunes in their midst

that you may bear your punishment and be dishonored because of all that you have done in provoking me to anger

And your sister Sodom and her daughters shall be restored as they were from the beginning, and Samaria and her daughters shall be restored as they were from the beginning, and you and your daughters shall be restored as you were from the beginning.

And if Sodom, your sister, was not for hearing in your mouth in the days of your pride

Before your wickedness was uncovered, as now, you are a reproach to the daughters of Syria and to all her daughters round about, the daughters of foreigners who surround you round about.

You have borne your impieties and your lawlessnesses, you yourself, says the Lord.

Thus says the Lord, and I will do to you as you did, because you despised these things, so as to break my covenant.

And I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your infancy, and I will establish for you an everlasting covenant.

And you shall remember your way and be put to shame, when you take your older sisters with your younger ones, and I will give them to you for a building up, and not from your covenant.

And I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the Lord.

so that you may remember and be ashamed and there may be no longer for you to open your mouth because of your disgrace, when I make atonement for you for all that you did, says the Lord
